Dr. Neiliezh&uuml; &Uuml;sou Memorial School, Kohima on Tuesday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coinciding with the event, Zhapusenuo Zuyie of Baptist High Kohima received the prestigious Rev. Dr. Neiliezh&uuml; Usou&rsquo;s Memorial Award for Music topper for securing 98 marks, the highest scorer in music in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Exam 2019. She also received a cash award of Rs. 15,000 and a citation sponsored by the family of Rev. Dr. Neiliezh&uuml; Usou.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated the music school for achieving its 50th anniversary. While appreciating late Rev. Dr. Neiliezh&uuml; &Uuml;sou for his dedication and promotion of music in the state, he said the legacy of Dr. Neiliezh&uuml; will live on through the institution.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Minister remarked that the biggest blessing in the Naga society was the missionaries that bought Christianity and education to Nagaland, saying that it has bought us from darkness to life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stating that Nagas are talented and born musicians, he added the need for basic training to become professionals and mastering it, which he stated that the school had imparted music to many musicians in that state.&nbsp; Rio also spoke on the activities of the TaFMA which are taking place in the state reminding that TaFMA has created new opportunities to the talented youths and also encouraged musicians at grassroots level. &ldquo;We want Nagaland to be a land of music&rdquo; Rio said.<\/p>\n<p>He assured to do everything possible to support the movement of art. He therefore requested the stakeholders to partner with the government towards the endeavour to work for the betterment of the musician and art in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in regard to prestigious award for music topper, the chief minster congratulated the awardee stating it was a privileged. He however reminded that privileged comes with a responsibility. He hoped the awardee will continue to pursue further excellent and make Nagaland the land of musicians.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Project Director TaFMA, Dr. Hovithal Sothu acknowledged late Rev. Dr. Neiliezh&uuml; &Uuml;sou and his family members for carrying the legacy of his father to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the music school.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sothu encouraged the musicians to take music a profession. He stated that under the vision and dynamism of Neiphiu Rio and government, the music industry will bloom and progress.&nbsp; Citing that many a times, the parents encouraged the children to take music as a hobby and not as a profession, he encouraged the young musicians and parents to take it up seriously.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the occasion, Golden Jubilee Souvenir was also released. Earlier, a monolith was unveiled marking the celebration of the 50th anniversary at the school premises. Pastor Calvary Baptist Church Jotsoma, Rev.
