{"id":207362,"date":"2019-12-07T11:56:32","date_gmt":"2019-12-07T11:56:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2019\/12\/07\/festival-of-sustainability-in-mokokchung-from-dec-12\/"},"modified":"2019-12-07T11:56:32","modified_gmt":"2019-12-07T11:56:32","slug":"festival-of-sustainability-in-mokokchung-from-dec-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2019\/12\/07\/festival-of-sustainability-in-mokokchung-from-dec-12\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Festival of Sustainability\u2019 in Mokokchung from Dec 12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;Wats&uuml; Mungdang, the apex Ao women organization is all set to organize the 3rd edition of &ldquo;Aowli Benjongmong &ndash; the festival of sustainability&rdquo; on December 12 and 13 at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Informing the media person about the festival at a press conference here at its office chamber on Saturday, officials of the Wats&uuml; Mungdang led by convener, Dr. Anungla Aier and others explained that the festival envisages facilitating and promoting participatory sustainable livelihood and initiating programmes for social uplift that would lead to improvement in the quality of life.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The mission also aspires to preserve, promote and disseminate the traditional art and crafts of the Ao tribe and also the traditional methods of cooking local cuisines. It is also aimed at preserving the traditional local agricultural and horticultural seeds native to the land. The festival proves to be a one of its kind where the Ao people cutting across all sections of the society gets the opportunity to come together sell, purchase, promote and showcase their products.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>It also provides a platform for the meeting of minds where ideas can be shared for the betterment of the society. The &ldquo;Aowli Benjongmong&rdquo; will be the culmination of the fruits yearlong activities which will be shared from every nook and corner of the district.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The highlights of the festival includes, exhibition and sale of indigenous seeds; coffee table publication of indigenous methods of preserving seeds unique to different Ao villages; organic vegetables, local rice, livestock etc.; indigenous method of cooking; sale of handicrafts, decorative items and other hand works; sale of varieties of flower plants and cut flowers; rice and fast food; homemade cakes, biscuits and pickles; barbeque and stalls; Mr. &amp; Ms. Aowli (6-10 years of age); children&rsquo;s voices;&nbsp; cultural dance; model display on types\/methods of farming; fun time and indigenous Christmas tree competition etc.<\/div>\n<div>The organizers informed that the festival will be family centric and the event will be plastic free and warned that use of alcohol will be strictly banned at the festival.
