According to official reports, a little over 18,255 people from Nagaland who are stranded in various states, have registered with the state government portal iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in and so far around 3938 have returned till May 25. How many more are to return is not known, but as per the details issued by the COVID-19 Empowered Group, some 15,000 more were expected to make the journey back to Nagaland in the coming days. Out of the 18,350 stranded citizens expected to return to the state from several parts of the country, at least 12, 536 would be arriving from Red Zone(68.32%), 3239 from Orange Zone(17.65%) and 2575 from Green Zone(14.03%). As per the report, Dimapur would be receiving a total of 8657 returnees- 6328 from Red Zone, 1262 from Orange Zone and 1067 from Green Zone. Kohima(1694) will be receiving 322 from Green Zone, 290 from Orange Zone and 1082 from Red Zone. Peren(1531) will be receiving 181 from Green Zone, 261 from Orange Zone and 1089 from Red Zone. Mon(1944) will be receiving 907 from Red Zone, 749 from Orange Zone and 288 from Green Zone. According to official sources, the tally may differ from time to time. On an average, each district will be receiving around 1600 returnees in the respective districts. Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Y. Kikheto Sema IAS, who is the overall in charge of Dimapur district for all COVID-19 related activities, in an exclusive interview with NE8/Nagaland Post, admitted that it would be a very big challenge for the state government to handle the situation. Sema informed that currently there were nearly 60 quarantine observation centres in Dimapur. He said that about 60-70 hotels have also been kept reserved for isolation centres with a total capacity of around 3500. Kikheto said people coming from green zone and orange zone areas would be kept at quarantine observation centres for three days and mandatory home isolation for 14 days while people coming from red zone areas or those who crossed red zone areas would be kept at institutional quarantine for 14 days and mandatory home isolation for 14 more days. From the given data, it indicates that around 12,536 returnees coming from various Red Zones are to be housed in quarantine centres under 11 districts. For instance, Dimapur will require quarantine facilities to accommodate around 6328 returnees coming from Red Zones. As per the state government decision, returnees from Dimapur, Mon and Peren are to be placed in quarantine centres in Dimapur. It is not known as to whether that much facilities to house a total of 8324 returnees are available in Dimapur city. Kohima city will house the remaining returnees of eight districts and that itself is going to be a big and almost impossible task. The state government has too much work to do and the first thing that it needs to do is to reassess its plans in a realistic way. The challenge of housing so many returnees and especially providing food is way beyond imagination. The state government has to take a very serious note of this impending challenge since thousands would be arriving the state in the coming days.

[685

post-208946","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-editorial
["GET
