The reason why America miserably failed in Afghanistan are many but one of the main reasons was that it had no real policy but only continued with the Bush doctrine of war against terror after the 9\/11 Al Qaeda attack. Since 9\/11, Washington has been extraordinarily active militarily- invading two nations, bombing and droning several others, deploying special operations forces in yet more countries, and applying sanctions against many. Tragically, the threat of Islamist violence and terrorism only have metastasized. Although Al Qaeda lost its effectiveness in directly plotting attacks, it continues to inspire national offshoots. Moreover, while losing its physical “caliphate” in the Middle East, the Islamic State added further terrorism to its portfolio. Three successive US administrations after Bush- Obama, Trump and Biden- have ever more deeply ensnared the US. Yet the current administration appears convinced that doing more of the same will achieve different results, the best definition of insanity. The latest political and military disaster is in Afghanistan, which the US invaded in 2001 after then president George W. Bush vowed to prevent it from becoming a terror hub of the Al Qaeda. It may also be noted that George W.Bush’s father the late George H.W.Bush was another war monger who pursued military interventions. Ironically, the Bush family’s century of involvement in oil, armaments and global intrigue has never been at the center of the national debate since the Bushes starting running for president in 1980. The two Bush presidencies are so closely linked, especially over Iraq, that the 43rd can’t be understood apart from the 41st. The 41st US president George H.W.Bush was known for his Saddam mania. His words ‘Slam Saddam’ and the pretext of invading Iraq over the so-called Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) highlighted the hilarious policy of the head of the world’s most powerful nation. While Bush senior did not invade Iraq after driving out Iraqi forces from Kuwait in 1990; his son George W. Bush ordered US invasion of Iraq in 2003 to overthrow his father’s sworn enemy- Saddam Hussein. According to media reports, the Bush family was heavily involved in arms deals and probes reveal that George H.W. Bush’s Saudi, Iraqi and Middle Eastern arms-deal entanglements. Despite its awesome resources and might, the US failed to prevent the Taliban and other terror networks from taking over Afghanistan. There are many things that went wrong in Afghanistan- the strategy was weak, and the enemy persistent. One of the failures of the US in Afghanistan was poor intelligence. The US buys information and pays informers well but most of the time, it is unable to use them beneficially. It is therefore left to the analysts to decipher the information. The US failed to prevent the terror attacks from the skies, despite having received inputs that Al Qaeda planned to strike the Capitol, Pentagon and Twin Towers in 2001.United States in the Middle East. Cuba, Iran, North Korea, China and Russia remain in its radar. The US has to stop destabilizing nations in the name of war on terror.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Soft bellied superpower<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[685],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-209626","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-editorial"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/209626","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=209626"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/209626\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=209626"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=209626"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=209626"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
