An interactive smart board for conducting smart classrooms across the State was inaugurated at Government Polytechnic here on Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Inaugurating the “Statewide interactive smart board for smart classroom cum one day seminar” organized by All India Council for Technical Education, Delhi, Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs minister Temjen Imna Along underlined that no technology, providence or funds would be of help in teaching and learning process unless one was dedicated.<\/p>\n
He called for looking beyond books and classrooms for acquiring knowledge and appealed to students not to pursue education just for the sake of acquiring degrees. <\/p>\n
Regretting that Nagas did not take things seriously, he cautioned that if they were not able to keep up with the fast changing world where technology was touching every aspect of human lives, they would be left far behind. Hence, he urged the engineering students to be dedicated and passionate in their studies and use their innovative ideas to create something new.<\/p>\n
The minister observed that the polytechnic had been at the forefront in providing education, and remarked that “one of our major weaknesses was that we try to acquire knowledge only from the books prescribed in the syllabus”. <\/p>\n
“Think of the unthinkable and become an Einstein or Newton. Our minds are limitless. We need people who are passionate, dreamers and aspiring,” he stated. He advised the students to make use of the resources provided at the institute, including the smart board. <\/p>\n
Along said: “We want to live within our four walls and want everyone and everything to come to us, but afraid and lazy to go out and explore. Unless we change our thinking, we cannot change.” He thanked the Central government for turning the Look East policy to Act East policy by encompassing the Northeast, including Nagaland. He assured of looking into the matter of converting the polytechnic into a full-fledged engineering college. <\/p>\n
He announced that two or three more polytechnics would be coming up soon. <\/p>\n
Pointing out Nagaland had become a land of NGOs, he observed that for seeking any solution, the easiest way for most Nagas was to come together and form a group. <\/p>\n
“This is because we had stopped believing in our strength to build our State and nation. We have instead become a pressure group because that is the best option Nagas have found out to keep themselves relevant and to gain popularity. We have at least 2,000 unions in Nagaland now,” he observed. <\/p>\n
