They said thermal screening and ambulances should also be kept ready, along with medical team, at the inter-State border to check incoming travellers, adding neighbouring Manipur had a well-constructed shed with washrooms and running water for both police and medical personnel at Mao border and kept two ambulances on standby 24×7.

Asking the State government to take full responsibility and make arrangements for bringing back stranded Nagas willing to return home, NMA said many did not have money to return on their own, adding the State should not to fail in fulfilling its duty in bearing all expenses of their return. It also asked the government to take into confidence student leaders in different cities for reaching out to those who bravely chose to stay back during this crisis.

The association also condemned the attack on a Shramik Special train with Nagas on board in Bihar on Sunday by a mob, adding that another train faced a similar fate in the same State on Monday. It sought a probe into incidents of violence in Bihar, reasons for unscheduled stoppages on the routes of these trains and fixing of accountability for inability of the local police to control the mobs.

Alleging that, as per videos available, these special trains being sent to the Northeast were not hygienic and did not have water, the representation demanded that the State Government should coordinate in ensuring that proper train coaches were provided in bringing back the stranded citizens of Nagaland. It also urged the returnees to maintain strict discipline for their own safety and security while crossing unknown regions.

Mentioning that some lives too had been lost during this crisis outside, the representation said the government should help in bringing back their bodies to the State.

NMA demanded that all health centres – district hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres and sub-centres – should be well equipped to combat the pandemic. It said it was also disturbed by reports of inadequate and inferior quality PPEs being made available by the government. Acknowledging with gratitude the spontaneous response and generosity of various churches and organisations in sponsoring quarantine centres and food, the association urged the State government not to ignore its bounden responsibility of providing clean and hygienic centres with adequate nutritious food to all those being kept in institutional quarantine centres.

[679

post-212902","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-nagaland-news
["GET
