He added that the State’s largest quarantine centre at Ganesh Nagar industrial complex had been shut down.

Sema further mentioned that 195 returnees were at the quarantine centres for more than 14 days, 111 under quarantine for more than 18 days and 74 for 21 days.

He put the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in Dimapur at 84.41%, against the State’s overall recovery rate of about 40.50%.

Meanwhile, Sema has been relieved of his additional charge as HEG as per a government memo issued by chief secretary Temjen Toy on July 4, which directed him to resume normal duties in Kohima.

Sharing his experience as COVID-19 in-charge, he remarked that it was not an easy task and was very challenging.

He observed that the fight against COVID-19 was yet to be over and emphasised on three golden rules – wearing face mask, regular hand washing and maintaining social distancing. He also encouraged everyone to focus on four “Cs” – Cooperation, Coordination, Confidence and Contribution.

The APC thanked the State government, especially chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the chief secretary, for reposing faith on him and his team. Kikheto claimed that the government was supporting the team with resources, power and responsibilities to fight the pandemic.

He thanked the Almighty God for successful completion of his three-month duty to serve the people. Commenting on the actions and measures taken by some village and colony councils, Kikheto regretted that they had disowned their own people amidst the pandemic. Some colony councils had reportedly not allowed the returnees to enter their colonies and villages even though they had undergone the required number of quarantine period.

The outgoing HEG also expressed his appreciation to Team Dimapur that comprised officials from district administration, police, medical fraternity, civil society groups, NGOs, various committees for transportation, accommodation, reception, food and sanitation, prayer warriors and individuals who contributed towards fighting the pandemic. He said the team had received the highest respect when its members were termed as “Frontline Warriors” and not as “Frontline Workers”.

CM acknowledges Team Dimapur: Meanwhile, in a congratulatory note, Rio said his government had instituted the special committee headed by Kikheto Sema to advise Dimapur district administration and oversee matter pertaining to COVID-19 in the district. He explained that this was done as Dimapur was the commercial hub of the State and a nerve centre in many aspects.

He said Dimapur being the gateway of the State and neighbouring areas, majority of the returnees were scheduled to return to Nagaland via Dimapur. And in the light of this, he said the strategies and approaches were needed to be executed in an effective manner through the constitution of the committee.

The government also placed on record its appreciation to the members of the committee for taking the task with utmost sincerity, commitment and dedication.

[679

post-216797","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-nagaland-news
["GET
