The situation was later brought under control after police teams from both sides held a meeting on July 13 in the presence of members of SVC, Japukong Youth Organisation and Japukong Students’ Union.

When contacted, director general of police (DGP) T John Longkumer confirmed the incident and said that a policeman was injured by one of the miscreants. He said the Assam Police had identified the miscreant responsible for the assault.

Mokokchung superintendent of police Vishal also informed that the issue had been amicably settled by both the Assam and Nagaland villagers. He added that the two sides had also filed a case at Longchem police station. Police would investigate the matter to get further details, he added.

[679

post-217668","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-nagaland-news
["GET
