Delivery of LPG cylinders have been severely affected in the State Capital following an indefinite strike called by All Kohima Indane Distributors’ Association (AKIDA) that entered fifth day on Friday. <\/p>\n
The indefinite strike has been called since July 13 in protest against the assault on LPG workers on July 4 and July 9 while on duty. Speaking to Nagaland Post, AKIDA general secretary Tseibou Dzüichü said the indefinite closure of LPG services in Kohima would continue as there had been no positive outcome even though an FIR had been filed at the police station. <\/p>\n
“The culprits are still traceless. <\/p>\n
If such incident recurs, we will continue with our indefinite stir,” he added. Stating that extortions were often carried out for personal interests, Dzüichü explained that the association wanted to give a clear message to those carrying out illegal extortion and indulging in other anti-social activities that it would not keep mum and taking things lightly when LPG workers were assaulted on duty. <\/p>\n
He clarified that the LPG distributors did not entertain donations as per an association resolution, adding it was not the first such incident. <\/p>\n
Pointing out that the LPG workers were giving their best even during the lockdown, he regretted that instead of appreciating their service, they were threatened by miscreants. <\/p>\n
He also confirmed all the five LPG distributors in the State Capital – Seyie Gas Agency, Belho Gas Agency, Marcofed, Yhome Gas Agency and Rose Gas Agency – had kept their shutters down since July 13. <\/p>\n
The general secretary said the agencies were servicing approximately 70,000 customers here, who have now all been affected due to the infinite strike. <\/p>\n
