Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) has initiated the first ever” Virtual Mozart Piano Competition” for the upcoming pianists across Nagaland where the participants have to record a 2-minute video of them playing the piano and email it.<\/p>\n
Advisor to TaFMA, Theja Meru said, “we thought it’s a good opportunity to give attention to the study of classical music and maybe also discover newer and upcoming talents from a competition like this.” Stating that challenges also give a lot of opportunities, he said “This pandemic has also given a lot of opportunities to think outside the box to continue to engage with our musicians and give them platforms”.<\/p>\n
Casio, which is the official corporate partner of TaFMA has further come forward to support the competition. Meru has expressed excitement to start with this first edition and hoped to make it an annual event and also hopeful to make it a national competition by next year. The competition, he said will always be online, which is why it was named as “Virtual Mozart”, however, he said that it does not necessarily mean playing Mozart music. “Mozart is iconic when it comes to music and that’s why we have chosen him”, he further disclosed.<\/p>\n
For its first edition, TaFMA has made it Nagaland specific, targeting those who have completed 5th Grade and upward for this edition. He said that they will come up bigger with more partnerships and also maybe more associations by next year. The advisor also acknowledged the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority and the Mountain Music Academy, Dimapur, which have partnered with TaFMA in this initiative.<\/p>\n
The winner will receive a Casio Digital Piano CDP-S Series and certificate. There will be three consolation prizes, wherein they will also get a certificate each along with gift hampers from Mountain Music Academy, Dimapur. All the 4 winners will receive 2 free piano lessons each (online) with advanced level piano coach from Mountain Music Academy. All the terms and conditions for the competition are provided on TaFMA’s social media.<\/p>\n
Judges for the Virtual Mozart Piano Competition include Visahu Peseyie, M.M. Proprietor, Cheli Music Academy Kohima, Zingrin Shishak, assistant Piano professor, Margaret Shishak School of Music (MSSM), Patkai Christian College and Bethel Tsuzu, Pianist\/ Director, Mountain Music Academy, Nagaland.<\/p>\n
