{"id":228409,"date":"2021-03-13T12:53:16","date_gmt":"2021-03-13T12:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2021\/03\/13\/nacwr-and-dnwo-programme-advocates-for-a-more-inclusive-world\/"},"modified":"2021-03-13T12:53:16","modified_gmt":"2021-03-13T12:53:16","slug":"nacwr-and-dnwo-programme-advocates-for-a-more-inclusive-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2021\/03\/13\/nacwr-and-dnwo-programme-advocates-for-a-more-inclusive-world\/","title":{"rendered":"NACWR and DNWO programme advocates for a more inclusive world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>Nagaland Alliance for Children and Women&rsquo;s Right (NACWR) in collaboration with Diphupar Naga Women Organisation (DNWO) and sponsored by PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi organised an international women&rsquo;s day (IWD) programme here, on Saturday at Diphupar Ao Church jubilee memorial hall.<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on the theme &ldquo;choose to challenge&rdquo;, guest of honour, SDO (civil) Ch&uuml;moukedima, Thejavizo Nakhro said that the two things that needed to be challenged included personal challenge and challenge that existed in the environment and society that we lived in.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Nakhro said, &ldquo;if we look around us there are lots of good things happening and we also see areas where gender parity is not yet achieved&rdquo;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Addressing legal issues for women, children and welfare schemes, NACWR, legal advisor Esther K Aye spoke on the importance of gender sensitisation saying that cases on domestic violence knew no class, caste or religion.<\/p>\n<p>Aye informed the gathering on how to handle such situations and how to help victims. She challenged the gathering to sensitise the rights, to stand out and be the voice of such victims in order to adopt change in the society. Aye also maintained that domestic violence victims were not call &ldquo;victims&rdquo; anymore but they were call as &ldquo;survivors&rdquo;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NACWR legal advisor Limasenla Longkumer highlighted on juvenile justice case and protection Act 2015 and rules 2016 and schemes related for children.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that in places like Kohima and Dimapur, there had been many cases reported pertaining to child abuse. In this regard, Longkumer asked the gathering to stand and encourage one another for those children who were the silent victims.<\/p>\n<p>At the programme, issues related to the topic, &ldquo;gender based violence&rdquo; was shared by NACWR member Miqlat Asha Sanchu where she expounded on the three types of violence which included war, psychological, structural and cultural violence.<\/p>\n<p>Topic on &ldquo;women&rsquo;s mental health and its concern&rdquo; was also imparted by oriental theological seminary, associate professor, reverend Dr. Ellen Konyak Jamir where she lamented how many people misunderstood, neglected and stigmatised mental health but no one was to be blamed since it was a different context of education where they lacked.<\/p>\n<p>She encouraged the people to do way with shame, ignorance and denial of mental health but to recognise the signs and symptoms and seek for help.<\/p>\n<p>On &ldquo;empowering women through education&rdquo;, NEISSER, principal and NACWR advisor, reverend Dr. Anto said that education consciousness cannot be taught but it began from home.<\/p>\n<p>The programme was chaired by NACWR, member sisterhood network Azungla James, invocation by Diphupar Ao Baptist church child ministry associate pastor Asenla Longkumer and welcome address by DNWO chairperson Chubainla.
