Dimapur police in its pre-quarterly report for the period January 1 to March 16, 2021 issued on Tuesday said that 19 individuals were arrested in connection with extortion related case and seized Rs. 31,10,515.<\/p>\n

Accordingly 13 cases were registered and the seized items forwarded to district court, police said, adding the seizure and arrests were made by district police and Assam Rifles.<\/div>\n
In a press note, ADCP (Crime)\/PRO Dimapur police further said that the police on Monday arrested two individuals identified as one Kughato Swu (34) and Inaka Achumi (35) while extorting money from a business establishment at 4th Mile area in the name of FGN. Police also seized Rs.2000 and two mobile handset from their possession and registered a case at Diphupar Police Station.<\/div>\n
On March 16, police said that one person– Dilip Basumatary (32) was arrested for illegal transportation of IMFL in one Alto (NL 01P 5847). Altogether 17 cases IMFL was seized and a case registered at Chümoukedima Police Station.<\/div>\n
On March 13, police along with 5th Assam Rifles rescued two persons- a truck driver and an employee of a private transport agency from Thilixu village area after they were reportedly abducted by unknown persons from Purana Bazaar area. In this regard, a case has been registered in Diphupar police station. PRO also informed that mobile armed escorts were being provided to commercial trucks at the inter-state checkgates from 0500 hrs to 0800 hrs.<\/div>\n
