{"id":231772,"date":"2021-06-07T13:10:23","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T13:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2021\/06\/07\/dhd-lacks-ct-scan-machine-minister-assures-to-install-soon\/"},"modified":"2021-06-07T13:10:23","modified_gmt":"2021-06-07T13:10:23","slug":"dhd-lacks-ct-scan-machine-minister-assures-to-install-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2021\/06\/07\/dhd-lacks-ct-scan-machine-minister-assures-to-install-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"DHD lacks CT scan machine; minister assures to install soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>Despite the claims of having improved health infrastructure in the backdrop of the raging second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, it has come to light that District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) still does not have a CT (computed tomography) scan machine, considered a basic equipment to gauge the severity of virus infection.<\/p>\n<p>The revelation comes in the background of Dimapur district, along with Kohima, having the maximum Covid-19 cases in the State.<\/p>\n<p>DHD sources informed Nagaland Post that patients requiring CT scan were sent to private hospitals by ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the CT scan machine, the hospital also lacks portable x-ray machine, which too has become a necessity as most Covid patients cannot be moved around and have to be constantly on oxygen support. At present, the hospital has one fixed x-ray machine, the sources added.<\/p>\n<p>While diet, medicines and basic investigations were free at DHD, a nominal fee was being charged for Covid markers test with the director&rsquo;s knowledge as the test kit was not being supplied by the government and purchased from the market, the sources confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health minister seeks proposal:<\/strong> Health &amp; Family Welfare (H&amp;FW) minister Pangnyu Phom on Monday assured of equipping DHD with CT scan machine and directed chief medical officer (CMO) and medical superintendent (MS) to submit a proposal in this regard at the earliest.<\/p>\n<p>Interacting with senior officials of the hospital to listen to their grievances and also to take stock of equipment, medicines and other logistics available, he also expressed concern over lack of CT scan and portable x-ray machines.<\/p>\n<p>Pointing out that the department had a system that could not be bypassed, he advised them to send the requirements in the form of proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Lauding doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers for rendering their selfless service in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, Pangnyu assured to look into their grievances.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Briefing the minister about Covid scenario in Dimapur district, the CMO said there were presently 10 Covid hospitals, of which two have not been activated yet. But otherwise everything was in place, and mock drills were also undertaken and could be activated anytime as and when required, he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He also informed the minister that the district currently had sufficient numbers of Covid beds and oxygen cylinders.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the MS informed the minster that Round Table India Trust, in collaboration with Rotary Club, Dimapur, donated 50 equipments for a designated ward at DHD, which had started arriving.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pointing out Invest India had plans for providing a pre-fabricated 48-bedded Covid hospital, she observed that with more infrastructures, more manpower would be required and requested the minister for looking into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>District immunisation officer Dr Rebecca shared the vaccination status of district and said maximum allocation of vaccines was made for Dimapur taking into consideration its huge population. This was stated in a DIPR release.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob donates 2 x-ray machines<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Public health engineering (PHE) minister Jacob Zhimomi has donated two high-frequency x-ray machines to DHD.<\/p>\n<p>He tweeted, &ldquo;Donated 2 units of high frequency X-Ray machines to District Hospital Dimapur (Covid designated Hospital) in the presence of DC Dimapur and CMO Dimapur.
