Zeliang on Thursday moved a resolution in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) urging the Centre to resolve the vexed Naga political issue before the Assembly polls scheduled early next year. The resolution, moved on the first day of the two-day Winter Session also called upon the Election Commission not to announce election schedule before a final solution was arrived at on the matter.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>NLA further resolved to call upon all civil societies, tribal hohos, church and other organizations to cooperate with the State government on the matter.<\/div>\n<div>The Assembly also called upon all political parties and Independent candidates to take the demand for \u201csolution before election\u201d to the field so as to present a united stand before the Government of India (GoI) and Election Commission of India.<\/div>\n<div>Earlier, Zeliang referred to the consultative meet of the Nagaland Legislators Forum with parliamentarians and ex-parliamentarians on December 7, where it was resolved to urge the NLA to adopt a resolution for \u201csolution before election\u201d during the current session of the House.<\/div>\n<div>He said the meeting appreciated the various measures taken by the Government of India (GoI) for early solution to the protracted Naga political issue, including signing of the Framework Agreement on August 5, 2015 with NSCN (IM) and a written agreement with the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on November 27 this year.<\/div>\n<div>Zeliang said solution to the Naga political issue could not afford any more delays and thereby \u201cinterminably deny the Nagas their democratic right to self-determination and other concomitant rights and vestments\u201d.<\/div>\n<div>Lokayukta report tabled: In the backdrop of Public Coordination Committee threatening to launch hunger strike demanding Lokayukta, chairman of Select Committee on Nagaland Lokayukta Bill 2015, Er. Levi Rengma, tabled a copy of the committee\u2019s report before the House. Announcing that consideration and adoption of the Bill would be taken up on Friday, NLA Speaker, Dr Imtiwapang Aier asked the legislators to submit amendments (if any) before 2 p.m. on Thursday.<\/div>\n<div>Move to revoke Nov 26, 2016 resolution: On the other hand, in another important move, the chief minister also moved the House for introduction of resolution to revoke the Assembly resolution passed on November 26, 2016 on the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2006. The Speaker informed the members that consideration and adoption would be taken up on Friday.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Earlier, Aier made obituary references to former legislators Kiyaneilie Peseyie, N Yeangphong Konyak, Viyekha Rengma and Kiyelho Sema, all of whom had passed away.<\/div>\n<div>He also stated that all reports and Bills laid before the House for consideration and adoption would be taken up on Friday.<\/div>\n<div>Other transactions during the day included Zeliang laying the 50th (2015-16) and 51st (2016-17) annual reports of Nagaland Public Service Commission, annual reports of the Nagaland Information Commission for 2015-16 and 2016-17 and the Nagaland School Education Service Rules, 2017 during business hour.<\/div>\n<div>The chief minister also presented the Audit Report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India on Nagaland Khadi &amp; Village Industries Board for 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-15.<\/div>\n<div>Vikho-O Yhoshu, parliamentary secretary for Mechanical Engineering &amp; Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited, laid the Annual Report (2014-2015) of NSMDC.<\/div>\n<div>Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, chairman of Committee on Estimates (2017- 2018) presented the following reports:&nbsp; i) 127th report on action taken on the Observations\/ Recommendations contained in the 121st Report of the Committee on Estimates pertaining to Agriculture Department (Agri Link Road); ii) 128th report on action taken on the Observations\/ Recommendations contained in the 122nd Report of the Committee on Estimates pertaining to Power Department; and iii) 129th report on action taken on the Observations\/ Recommendations contained in the 123rd Report of the Committee on Estimates pertaining to Women Resource Development Department.<\/div>\n<div>P.
