And the 213 Report of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs in reference to FA had stated that i) settlement would be within Union of India and ii) inter-state boundaries would not be changed, and recommended generous economic package, he added. Welcoming Naidu to Nagaland, Therie said the party had taken note of his statement that dialogue with insurgent groups was must for peace in the Northeast.

Narrating the sequence of developments, Therie mentioned that the Centre’s interlocutor had on September 30, 2019 brought all factions and concluded the negotiations. He then consulted stakeholders represented by all 14 tribal hohos and Gaon Burahs’ Federation of Nagaland.

He said all political parties and prominent civil society groups in the State had endorsed in principle for implementation of the agreed points.

However, he pointed out that on August 3, 2021 chief minister Neiphiu Rio had made a statement in the Assembly that the government did not reject the NSCN (I-M)’s demand for a separate flag, constitution and integration of Naga-inhabited contiguous areas and that the group would be persuaded, post agreement, thus rendering meaningless the earlier developments.

In view of the statement, Therie said the 60 legislators resolved demanding resumption of peace talks. Since the last paragraph of FA assured to work out details of execution plan to implement shortly, he pointed out that passage of six years couldn’t be termed as short.

But since talks were over and the chief minister and the political parties had promised repeatedly to pave the way if an acceptable and honourable solution was found and as the stakeholders had accepted the Agreed Position between Government of India and seven NNPGs in principle, he demanded finalisation of details and implement the solution.

[679

post-240026","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-nagaland-news
["GET
