{"id":240475,"date":"2021-12-10T14:36:12","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T14:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2021\/12\/10\/more-organisations-condemn-december-4-oting-massacre-3\/"},"modified":"2021-12-10T14:36:12","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T14:36:12","slug":"more-organisations-condemn-december-4-oting-massacre-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2021\/12\/10\/more-organisations-condemn-december-4-oting-massacre-3\/","title":{"rendered":"More organisations condemn December 4 Oting massacre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>Various civil society organisations, tribal bodies, student bodies, political parties, etc continued to condemn the killing of over a dozen civilians by security forces on December 4, 2021 in an area between Oting and Tiru village under Mon district.<\/p>\n<p>KVCU, MVDVA: The Konyak Village Councils&rsquo; Union and Mon District V.D.B.&rsquo;s Association of Mon district has strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of 14 innocent civilians and injuring several others at Oting village and Mon respectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the joint commendation note, the bodies stated that &ldquo;the security force has deployed to protect the innocent civilian and to safeguard the welfare of the nation, but not to provoke the atmosphere and to kill and injure the innocent citizens of the country&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>While stating that all the deceased and victims were neither involved with any insurgent groups nor the enemy of Indian army or any security force, the bodies said that they were innocent civilians and daily wagers.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, they appealed to all the armed forces to &ldquo;stop killing, harassing and torturing the innocent public of Mon district and Eastern Nagaland in particular and Nagaland state in general&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>The bodies appealed to the centre to repeal AFSPA from Naga soil and high-level special investigation team (SIT) be set-up for immediate investigation of the incident for conveyance of justice as per the law of the land.<\/p>\n<p>They conveyed deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and wished for a speedy recovery to all the injured.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wangtin-led NSCN (R): Wangtin-led NSCN (Reformation) has strongly condemned the atrocious and ghastly act of the security forces against the innocent Nagas at Oting and Mon town.<\/p>\n<p>The group through its MIP said that it was too saddening and painful to see its Naga brothers soaked with blood, killed and maimed by the Indian Army.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This incident has once again brought to fore the real face of the Indian jawans and their high-handedness and how AFSPA has been misused to harass and batter the life of the Nagas&rdquo; it stated.<\/p>\n<p>While pointing out that this was not the first case, the group said that it stood by its people in demanding the repeal of AFSPA &ldquo;once and for all and punitive action be taken against the erring jawans&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>It said that the AFSPA had &ldquo;only widened the gap and grossly misused by the security forces to earn awards even at the cost of violating human rights&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>The group extended deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the Almighty grant peace and solace.<\/p>\n<p>SUD: Sangtam Union Dimapur has in the strongest term condemned the massacre. It stated that the military who was supposed to be defender of the citizens took over the advantage of the draconian law-AFSPA and had been committing atrocities which it said was highly questionable. Stating that it was gruesome killings of innocent Naga laboroures in broad daylight, the union conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and appealed to the authority to deliver justice to the innocents at the earliest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SAWO: Condemning the massacre on December 4, the Southern Angami Women Organisation asked if India had forgotten her freedom struggle from the British colonial rule and in the same way, Nagas had fought and defended her nation from the British colonial rule along with India and the struggle still continue for which ceasefire agreement was signed.<\/p>\n<p>Stating that the ceasefire monitoring committee headed by convenor ceasefire monitoring cell was in place and that the peace talks was also ongoing, SAWO said that the massacre of 14 innocent Konyak brethren was a genocidal act against human rights committed by the repeated offenders of the Indian Assam Rifles.<\/p>\n<p>Extending its solidarity with its Konyak brethren of Oting Village especially the grieving families, the association strongly demanded the centre take stringent action against the convener, ceasefire monitoring committee and responsible guilty officers\/personnel of the concerned Assam Rifle and the action taken be made known to the world immediately.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It also appealed to the peace-loving citizens of India and the world community to strongly condemn this heinous crime and stand in solidarity with the aggrieved Nagas.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The matter should be taken up seriously at the highest level as this can happen again to any one of us at any moment&rdquo; SAWO stated.<\/p>\n<p>It also pointed out that centre, media and security forces claimed the Naga insurgent groups as terrorists and asked who was &ldquo;the real terrorist here?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>It demanded that the AFSPA be repealed immediately to show that human rights to live was being protected.<\/p>\n<p>MYU: Mon Yen Union has expressed deep anguish and strongly condemned the act. It appealed to the government to deliver justice for its innocent brothers and stated that the whole incident showed that &ldquo;the existence of the draconian Armed Force Special Power Act (1958)&rdquo; had &ldquo;time and again caused irremediable damage to our Naga society&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Even though several witnesses and survivors of the fateful evening of December 4 have shared their testimonies, the mainstream news channels and politicians have not left any chance at calling the genocide an act of self-defence&rdquo;, it stated.<\/p>\n<p>While pointing out that it was a shame that this was happening in the world&rsquo;s biggest democracy, MY said that rather than feeling safe and secure under law and order, the people were rather feeling alienated and threatened.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the sensitivity of the situation and people, MY felt that the Indian forces &ldquo;should not move in and around the area of Singphan, Lower Tiru, Upper Tiru, Namtai, Hotahoti, Oting and Pongkong village areas without proper consultation or information&rdquo;. &ldquo;Until and unless AFSPA is lifted and their power limited, they will continue to create problems and harass the innocent public of the region&rdquo; it stated. The union urged the centre to withdraw AFSPA and allow the citizen to live peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>PHD: Poumai Hoho Dimapur while condemning the massacre plead for the repeal of AFSPA and expressed its solidarity. The Hoho extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.<\/p>\n<p>IRCSN: Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State branch (IRCSN) said that it was unfortunate that the festive season of Christmas and Hornbill festival for the people of Nagaland had been marred by the devastating human tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>The IRCSN urged the state government to take all necessary steps to see that this kind of human suffering and loss of life do not ever occur again and in this regard, do everything to repeal the tyrannical AFSPA in order to ensure peace, safety and tranquility for the people of the entire North East region.<\/p>\n<p>CHS: Expressing deep shock, Ch&uuml;moukedima Hindu Society has condemned the inhuman act of Indian security forces and said that it was a complete violation of human rights.
