The three-day centennial jubilee celebration of the Nungying Baptist Church culminated on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to deputy CMO media cell, delivering the jubilee greetings, state deputy chief minister, Y Patton urged upon the youth to opt for competitive examinations.<\/p>\n
He said that the primary focus of the youth should be on competing, in order to earn through merit.<\/p>\n
Patton said that Nungying was the 12th village out of more than 140 villages in the Lotha region to reach the milestone of 100 years.<\/p>\n
He however, lamented that the village lacked behind in all fronts including religious lines.<\/p>\n
In this regard, he advised the congregation to forgive one another for past misdeeds and move ahead by seeking God’s blessing.<\/p>\n
He further called upon to be united for an all-round development of the village.<\/p>\n
The deputy CM assured to sponsor two theologians from the village for till graduation, two UPSC\/NPSC aspiring needy candidates to undergo coaching for a period of two years, a sum of Rs. 10 lakh to successful candidates of UPSC who cleared IAS and IPS and a sum of Rs. 5 lakh to those securing EAC and DSP through open competition in the NPSC exams.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, theme speaker, Yikhum Baptist Church pastor, Zanben Kithan said that their forefathers were illiterate but were rich in God’s knowledge.<\/p>\n
The pastor, however, lamented that today, the church leaders and Christians were blinded by materialism.<\/p>\n
He therefore called upon the congregation to follow the footsteps and to thank the pioneers who had sacrificed and laid the foundation.<\/p>\n
He also reminded them that jubilee was a celebration of what God had done for the people.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Okotso Baptist Church pastor, Rev. O. Yibomo Ngullie said a prayer of blessing for the village while pastor Yimkha Baptist Church, Rev. Renbomo Ngullie said the jubilee offertory prayer.<\/p>\n
Tsungiki Baptist Church pastor, T. Mhao Kikon said the invocation while special songs by jubilee choir, Tsungiki Baptist Church Choir and others were also presented.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
