{"id":241754,"date":"2021-09-18T13:52:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-18T13:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2021\/09\/18\/covid-might-shift-india-s-growth-model\/"},"modified":"2021-09-18T13:52:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-18T13:52:45","slug":"covid-might-shift-india-s-growth-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2021\/09\/18\/covid-might-shift-india-s-growth-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid might shift India\u2019s growth model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>The Covid-19 pandemic could act as an inflection point to shift India&rsquo;s growth model from being consumption driven to investments-led.<\/p>\n<p>In its Ecoscope report, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, said: &ldquo;With Covid-19 hurting India&rsquo;s &lsquo;Household&rsquo; (HH) and &lsquo;Government&rsquo; sectors adversely, the continuity of strong consumption growth is in question.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;On the contrary, with listed companies&rsquo; financial positions improving and an uptick in household investments in the Real Estate sector (called physical savings), the narrative of investment-led recovery is gaining momentum.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The report prescribed that various economic participants &#8211; households, governments, listed companies, and unlisted corporates &#8212; to increase their fixed asset investments in the immediate future based on their financial position.<\/p>\n<p>At present, the listed and unlisted corporate sector accounts for only about half of total investments in India.<\/p>\n<p>The &lsquo;HH&rsquo; sector including unincorporated enterprises accounts for 35-40 per cent in India&rsquo;s investments, while the remaining 12-13 per cent is contributed by centre and states governments. Besides, the report cited that demand environment is expected to remain subdued due to weak financial position of &lsquo;HH&rsquo; and government sector.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Despite household investments picking up strongly in 2HFY21, given that Indian households bore the maximum brunt of Covid-led losses in CY20 (and CY21), we believe household spending would remain subdued over the next few years.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>It further pointed out that unless &lsquo;HH&rsquo;, &lsquo;Unlisted Corporate&rsquo;, and government sectors can improve their financial positions &#8212; leading to a demand uptick &#8212; a strong revival in investments seems challenging.<\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Covid might shift India\u2019s growth model<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[667],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-241754","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-business"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/241754","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=241754"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/241754\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=241754"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=241754"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=241754"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
