The 50th sports meet of Angami Sports Association (ASA) kicked off on Monday at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.\u2019
On the opening day, NASA led the medal tally with 11 medals (6 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze) followed by SASA with 8 medals (4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze), CYO with 1 silver in third position while WAYO is yet to open an account.
Gracing the opening ceremony as inaugural guest, advisor, Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha said Nagas were capable of performing like the rest of the world athletes as they possessed the ability but lacked dedication, sacrifice and sincerity.
In this regard, he urged the players to strive hard and earn a good name and bring laurel not only for oneself but for the state.
However, he also reminded the youngsters that there was no short cut in sports and the only way was through hard work and determination.
The advisor also encouraged the players to work out and make full use of the available facilities.
Neikha also said that Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE), Kohima was of great advantage for the Naga community as through this platform, the academy would be upgrading games like wrestling, boxing, and archery by roping world -class coaches to train the athletes.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by ASA, advisor, Viliehu Nguzh\u00fc while ASA athletics secretary, Neilekho Z\u00fctso administered the oath to the participating team.
