This was conveyed by a DAN delegation led by Chief Minister TR Zeliang that called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Friday.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>According to CMO Media Cell, the delegation, which also included Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, pointed out that it has been 20 years since negotiations began and with the State Assembly elections scheduled early next year, it was important that settlement of the Naga political issue was initiated before that.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Rio went further in wanting settlement before Christmas as it would be in the interest of all. He said this was in lieu of the commitment and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister which made final settlement not to be too far off.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In response, Rajnath Singh appreciated the initiative of the Chief Minister and his colleagues for highlighting the need for an early solution and hoped that settlement of the Naga political Issue would be done soon.<\/div>\n<div>Later in the afternoon, the chief minister with his colleagues had a meeting with RN Ravi, Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks, at Nagaland House in New Delhi.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>During the meeting, Zeliang urged Ravi to ensure that settlement of Naga political issue was done before the Assembly elections. The chief minister also appreciated the efforts made by the Interlocutor towards an inclusive solution that was both honourable and acceptable.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Ravi explained that they were very near to a final solution and that it was essential that all parties were involved in the final negotiations to ensure a peaceful and long-lasting solution. He also stated that most of the substantial issues have been resolved and only symbolic issues needed final resolution.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In this regard, Ravi urged upon \u201call concerned to impress upon all parties for the need of an early solution, preferably before the state assembly elections in the best interests of the state,\u201d CMO stated.<\/div>\n<div>Besides Zeliang and Rio, other members in the delegation included ministers&#8211; Imkong L. Imchen, G Kaito, Tokheho Yepthomi, Y.
