He said it cannot exist without rule and added that, no matter how much the rivals try, justice and rule of law will come to Nagaland.

Swu backed his colleague Yitachu in attacking Governor PB Acharya for not adhering to the Indian constitution when the latter dismissed then Chief Minister Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsü in June this year. Echoing his colleague’s stand, Swu said if Indian constitution did not apply in the State of Nagaland, then a separate Naga constitution will have to be moved in the Assembly. He said the Governor, Speaker and Chief Minister must be annoyed with the protest, yet he affirmed that the protest will continue till justice prevailed.

On the reconciliation extended by rival faction’s chief and Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio, Swu said a man of his stature should not take reconciliation so casually and asked whether his call for reconciliation was genuine or for political mileage.

The former minister asserted that Nagas need reconciliation, yet the dissident group must first admit their mistakes so that reconciliation can take place in true spirit.

He asked whether reconciliation was so costly that Rio was going to pay from his pocket? He said if reconciliation will be held, it will follow in the right procedure and not casually as wanted by the rival camp.

On the claim of the rival group to have selected leader of NPF Legislature Party on July 4, the MLA said he and his other colleagues were in Delhi during the meeting.

Swu further said Nagas need to think of the Indo-Naga political issue that is reportedly nearing solution, adding that at such a juncture Nagas needs stable government.

Endorsing the letter of NPF Central Youth Wing to President of India Ram Nath Kovind, the legislator said a constitutionally-backed government must be installed immediately and reiterated that till rule of law and justice prevails, the protest will continue.

In his address, Vice president Central office Bearer (COB) Pusazo Lushü said the 12th NLA is a shame for the entire State as it is riddled with controversy and no development has taken place during its tenure.

Lushü also questioned the silence of the Governor, who was so vocal on corruption but installed the “unconstitutional government”.

He also regretted that Speaker’s office, which was one of the most respected offices, has been made into an “in-law office” that was shameful.

On judiciary system, Lushü said it has high respect but said until the system was rectified, justice will never prevail in Nagaland.

General Secretary COB Khrielezo Bio also spoke on the occasion.

Neiphiu Rio-led NPF central youth wing pooh-poohs rival faction

DIMAPUR, NOV 2 (NPN): NPF central youth wing under Neiphiu Rio on Thursday questioned the justification of the ongoing dharna being held by leaders from the rival camp at the Civil Secretariat here.

In a statement, the NPF Central Youth Wing (Rio faction) termed the ongoing protest programme as a “sheer democratic contempt” being enacted by people who refused to come to terms with reality and accept the truth. It also wondered how the people, who are on a dharna listening to “empty discourses” by a few leaders, are managing their private affairs. Alleging that personal losses incurred by those taking part in the dharna are being compensated by their pay masters, the Rio-led NPF Central Youth Wing said it was for the Naga people to judge as to how far the dharna is justifiable in true “legal and democratic sense”.

The statement said time and again facts about the legal and democratic aspects vis-à-vis the ongoing political imbroglio have been explicitly expounded by several legal luminaries and by persons attached with other institutions. However, it was quite unfortunate that people loyal to former Chief Minister Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsü refused to accept the truth and still continued to justify their bogus claims through threat, intimidation and unsubstantiated political gimmickry through media, it added. The organisation also condemned the statement of Yitachu MLA for reportedly threatening to resort to violence, if Dr Shürhozelie-led NPF’s demands were not met by Nagaland Governor PB Acharya and Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Imtiwapang Aier.

“Such libellous statement is detrimental to peaceful coexistence and is totally uncalled for from a responsible leader like Mr Yitachu. Also, the statement of the so called NPF Youth Wing loyal to Dr Shürhozelie warning the Governor of any eventuality in the event of the latter’s failure to meet their fake demand is quite condemnable as it has gone beyond the democratic and legal norm,” the statement pointed out.

The organisation reiterated its stand that under no circumstances truth will be allow to be compromised “but we will steadfastly uphold and defend the sanctity of the democratic set up in the State”.

It said supporters of Dr Shürhozelie should realise that politics cannot be played on the basis of lies and false claims. Also, in politics, threat and bully never works, the organisation said, adding politics should be played based on true democratic principles.

The organisation also appealed to people taking part in the dharna programme to call it off and not waste their time and energy by allowing law of the land take its own course.

Vikheho asks CM whether leadership award was meant to run illegal govt In the ongoing war between the two factions of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Vikheho Swu, MLA has questioned chief minister, T.R.
