{"id":256648,"date":"2022-03-18T02:02:22","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T20:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nagalandpost.com\/?p=256648"},"modified":"2022-03-18T02:03:50","modified_gmt":"2022-03-17T20:33:50","slug":"building-under-ihsdp-inaugurated-at-kezocha-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2022\/03\/18\/building-under-ihsdp-inaugurated-at-kezocha-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Building under IHSDP inaugurated at Kezocha town"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Correspondent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">A building for families below poverty line was inaugurated at Kezocha town under Kohima district on Thursday.<br>The building, constructed under the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP), has one community hall, 70 dwelling units in two blocks (North &amp; South &#8211; 35 dwelling units each), approach road, footpath, drainage, water supply, electrification and public toilets. Constructed under 90:10 funding pattern (90% Central share and 10% State), the cost of the project was Rs.498.92 lakh out (Rs 449.03 lakh central share and Rs 49.89 lakh State Share. The contract was allotted to M\/s T. Tachu &amp; Co.<br>The dwelling units would be handed over to the beneficiaries through the administrator of Kezocha Town.<br>Advisor urban development and urban affairs Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire officially inaugurated the project in the presence of the villagers, department officials, village elders and host of legislators.<br>According to the technical report, the project was initiated in 2010. However, it could not take off due to technical problems. During thorough reconnaissance survey, it was found that most of the people resided in kutcha houses and Nagaland being a high rainfall area, those Kutcha houses were not durable and prone to roof leakages requiring a lot of maintenance during the rainy season.<br>As most of the families were BPL families, who could not afford to construct proper house with basic amenities like toilets, water supply, electrification etc, the proposal came up to construct dwelling units with basic amenities to improve the living condition of poorest of the poor families settled at Kezocha town.<br>Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr. Nicky Kire assured the citizens of Kezocha town that required facilities and water supply would be provided.<br>However, he urged them to take care of the properties and maintain the houses provided.<br>Dr.Nicky Kire also advised the citizens not to let politics hamper development, but extend cooperation and support to the government to ensure that there was development.<br>In his brief address, advisor youth resources and sports, Er. Zale Neikha thanked the department for providing the facility. He also acknowledged the landowners for generously providing the land for development. Asserting that the government has many programmes and plans, advisor said it was however halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.<br>Presenting the technical report, additional chief engineer urban engineering wing Er. Kevide Nakhro said initially when Kezocha town was surveyed for development it was observed that a large area of the administrative set up was used for agricultural purpose and the rest was found to be jungles not fit for habitation. He said that a small portion developed during that period was utilised for housing government and private residential requirement.<br>After thorough survey and seeing the hardship faced by the villagers, he said the department initiated the project.
