The Power Department on Thursday reminded all consumers under Dimapur Electrical Division never to hand over money to meter readers or any other staff for paying electricity bills or for any other purpose like service connection and other departmental activities, but to route it through the office of sub-divisional office.
Taking note of some consumers handing over money for electricity bill payment to meter readers, the Dimapur electrical division executive engineer (EE) Er. Y Akito Sema termed this illegal since the job of the meter reader was to deliver the electricity bill to consumers and note down the meter readings for the next bill.
The official clarified that meter readers were not authorised to collect money in any form from the consumers, adding that cash counters at various sub-divisions and specified locations at Diphupar, near Diphupar Police Station and near DDSC stadium and online payment through web portal www.dopn.gov.in were the only legal places for paying electricity dues.
He declared that hence forth Dimapur Electrical Division would not entertain or take any responsibility on account of such matters.
Also asking employees under Dimapur electrical division not to involve in such cases, Akito warned that if any employee was found or caught involved in such illegal activities, severe action would be initiated without further notice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
