A book on poetry titled \u201cOur Petals\u201d written by Chozila L Sangtam & Vizosienuo Sh\u00fcya and published by PenThrill Publication House, Kohima was released at Ura Academy, here on Monday.
Releasing the book, assistant professor, Kohima College Kohima, Dr Theyiesinuo Keditsu said Naga women should use writing as a tool to check imbalances in the society. She observed that speech was largely a men\u2019s domain and that the patriarchal arrangement has modulated the public, especially women into choosing to remain as back benchers.
She, however said by choosing to write, women could participate in the conversation as writing was also a form of speech.
Lauding the writers, Dr Keditsu pointed out that the two writers being from different tribes had also demonstrated unity by collaborating.
Meanwhile, publisher, Rita said when Vizosienuo and Chozila came forward with their manuscript to be published, it reminded her of her first publishing venture which she co-authored with her sister, Agnes. As stated in the introduction of the book, \u201cOur Petals\u201d, she said it dealt with various subjects and were prompted by different events and feelings.
She said publishing the book was an attempt of PenThrill to promote poetry with the belief that all these fresh voices also represented hopes, aspirations, struggles and happiness of the youth today.
Earlier, the writers gave short remarks on the book and their collaborative journey.
The programme was chaired by Vimeyiekho Vitso while Baptist Church Meriema pastor, Rev Keduolhoulie Sh\u00fcya offered the invocation.
A special number was presented by Kihikali H Rotokha and benediction was offered by Kohima Intercollegiate Evangelical Union secretary, Chhaya Bisukarma.
It may be mentioned that the writers\u2014Chozila is currently pursuing her master\u2019s degree in Linguistics from Nagaland University. She had previously written a collection of poems in the year 2020.
Meanwhile, Vizosienuo from Meriema village, who has completed her master\u2019s degree in English literature is a student leader, an ex-cadet and an enthusiast reader-writer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
