Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Phek division, at Chozuba on May 21 and Pf\u00fctsero town on Monday, covering four blocks\u2014Sekrezu, Kikruma, Chizami and Pf\u00fctsero.<br>In a press release, PHED Phek division informed that roles and responsibilities of Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) and \u201cSwachhagrahis\u201d was shared by district coordinator Kutulu Vero.<br>Vero informed that the main role of WATSANs was to ensure safe drinking and sanitation at village level, and that WATSAN along with \u201cSwachhagrahis\u201d appeared to be the only workforce at the field level, both in SBM and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).<br>Meanwhile, Sanitation and Hygiene consultant, Abigail Ritse spoke on ODF Plus Components\u2014Biodegradable Waste Management (Compost pit), Faecal Sludge Management and Plastic Waste Management and criteria to achieve ODF Plus as per SBM-G Phase II guidelines.<br>Later, chemist, Kethonu Theyo emphasised on Grey Water Management (ODF Plus component) through community and individual soak pits, separation of grey and black water, usage of treated grey water for activities such as kitchen gardens, irrigation, washing vehicles, groundwater recharge etc.<br>He further stressed on the harmful effects of contaminated water and the importance of testing water regularly.<br>At the programme, booklets and brochures on biodegradable waste management, faecal sludge management, grey water management and plastic waste management were distributed to all the participants.<br>The campaign was sponsored by Sanitation and WSSO PHED Kohima, with WATSANs and Swachhagrahis as main target groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nagalandpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IEC222.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-268652\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IEC222.jpg 800w, https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IEC222-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IEC222-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IEC222-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>Chozuba<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With an objective to ensure effective and expedited implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin Phase II, to achieve ODF plus, an awareness and capacity building programme was conducted by District Water &amp;
