{"id":27446,"date":"2017-09-22T01:00:02","date_gmt":"2017-09-22T01:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/09\/22\/kenye-reacts-to-rios-statement\/"},"modified":"2017-09-22T01:00:02","modified_gmt":"2017-09-22T01:00:02","slug":"kenye-reacts-to-rios-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/09\/22\/kenye-reacts-to-rios-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenye reacts to Rio\u2019s statement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Reacting to Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio\u2019s statement that NPF was already \u201cin the process of making amendments in its constitution to impeach any president&#8230;,\u201d Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye reminded Rio that the amendment was already made on July 13, 2005 after which the CEC endorsed the powers of the party president.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Addressing media persons here at the party\u2019s central office, Kenye said Rio\u2019s remark that the \u201cabsence of such a provision would only provide any incumbent with absolute powers which could be abused and exploited to reduce the party as a private property\u201d, was baseless. He said that the NPF president, Dr. Sh\u00fcrhozelie never by-passed the CEC to exercise extra constitutional powers or exploited or abused the party as a private property.<\/div>\n<div>Further, Kenye said even though the rival group may be plotting to freeze the \u2018cock\u2019 symbol by asking ECI to accept the crisis as a \u201cdispute\u201d, they would fail as the ECI was well aware of the situation. He therefore asked party workers not to panic.<\/div>\n<div>With regard to the ultimatum served on NPF president to step down, Kenye said there was no such provision in the party\u2019s constitution to impeach the president, neither there was any law that empowers the legislators to impeach the party president.<\/div>\n<div>He said since the NPF legislators do not even have the power to elect party functionaries, even at the village level, the question of impeaching the president or asking him to step down does not arise.<\/div>\n<div>K.G, Kenye said \u201cif NPF party which has been maintained for more than half a century gets dismantled, it will be a colossal loss to the people of the state and that no will be able to build the damaged bridge under any circumstances.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>On Naga issue, he said NPF was true to its regional stand that even during 1998 general election, the party had refrained from contesting the polls by heeding the call of Naga Hoho who desired for peace first and not election.<\/div>\n<div>He also said that the NPF central had passed several resolutions seeking for an honourable and acceptable Naga solution, saying the party would stand firm till it was achieved.<\/div>\n<div>In his brief address, NPF working president Huskha Yepthomi said \u201ceven if the Naga political solution comes to an end and Naga underground groups gets dissolved, NPF will remain upholding Naga rights.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reacting to Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio\u2019s statement that NPF was already \u201cin the process of making amendments in its constitution to impeach any president&#8230;,\u201d Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye reminded Rio that the amendment was already made on July 13, 2005 after which the CEC endorsed the powers of the party president.
