{"id":27535,"date":"2017-09-17T23:59:39","date_gmt":"2017-09-17T23:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/09\/17\/dlsas-conduct-legal-awareness-programmes-in-dmu-kma-phek\/"},"modified":"2017-09-17T23:59:39","modified_gmt":"2017-09-17T23:59:39","slug":"dlsas-conduct-legal-awareness-programmes-in-dmu-kma-phek","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/09\/17\/dlsas-conduct-legal-awareness-programmes-in-dmu-kma-phek\/","title":{"rendered":"DLSAs conduct legal awareness programmes in Dmu, Kma, Phek"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA), Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) conducted legal awareness programme while Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) &nbsp;visited District Jail Phek and highlighted the inmate of their rights.<\/div>\n<div>DDLSA organised legal awareness programme on Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) schemes and Consumer Rights on September 16 at Mediziphema DB\u2019s hall, Dimapur.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In the programme, DDLSA secretary and chief judicial magistrate, Dimapur, Ajongba Imchen, reminded that the village councils had a statutory mandate to act as an auxiliary to the district administration. He also encouraged the participants to discharge their duties keeping in mind the welfare of the public.<\/div>\n<div>Opening remarks was presented by EAC, Mediziphema, Sentilong Longkumer and resource persons, retainer DDLSA, Nathaniel Kevichusa, spoke on Nagaland Village Council Act while panel lawyers DDLSA, Temjensoba, Moatila, Visheli and Dzuvinuo spoke on objective of legal services, NALSA schemes, &nbsp;women\u2019s rights and consumer rights respectively. The programme was chaired by panel lawyer DDLSA, Zachariah Tetso.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>KDLSA: KDLSA organised a legal awareness programme with Sumi Sunday school students and teachers of Kenuozou colony, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) on September 17.<\/div>\n<div>Panel lawyer KDLSA, Zheviholi Swu spoke on cyber crime, merit and demerit of social media, offences and punishment under IPC, IT Act and highlighted the aims and objectives of legal aid services, free legal services\/assistance rendered to the public.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;Panel lawyer KDLSA, Aketoli J. Yepthomi also spoke on the JJ Act, right to education, fundamental rights and special provision for children.<\/div>\n<div>Sunday school teacher Khekani Shohe chaired the programme and thanked KDLSA for organising first of its kind of legal awareness in Sunday school department.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;She further requested KDLSA to organise such legal awareness from time to time with students, teachers as well as the parents. A special song was presented by Jessica and Khulu during the programme.<\/div>\n<div>PDLSA: Five PLVs of PDLSA visited District Jail Phek on September 16.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>During a brief programme at the fellowship hall, PLV Sekukho spoke on the rights of prisoners and said that prisoners were entitled to the same rights as other citizens, as the law ensured balance security and welfare.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Highlighting a few points on rights of the prisoner, PLV Diezekho said that the prisoner had the right to be in the open air for at least an hour a day. He said that the prisoners have the right to be provided with food to maintain the health and well-being.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The PLVs pointed out that prisoners also have the right to have access reasonable medical care, receive atleast one visit an hour each week and right to take part in educational programmes in the prison.<\/div>\n<div>During the visit, PLVs thanked deputy superintendent for allowing the visit and the cooperation of the jail authorities as well.
