A joint team of 3rd Assam Rifles and Kohima police personnel busted an extortion racket in Kohima on September 15 and 16. According to PRO IGAR (N), seven persons belonging to the military and civil wing of the NSCN (K) were arrested during the operations. <\/div>\n
In the first operation on September 15, the troops apprehended three individuals for \u201cthreatening the local populace, vendors and making unjust demands of extortion\u201d. They were identified as \u2018sgt.\u2019 Hoshito Ayemi son of Nizheto Ayemi, L Majingmong Thiipori (civil wing) son of Lingchingmong and Linpingthu Pachuri (civil eing) son of Y Asang Pachuri, PRO said. <\/div>\n
One 7.56mm pistol, .22 pistol along with eleven rounds, challan\/slips and marijuana (50 grams) were also recovered from their possession, PRO informed. <\/div>\n
The three along with the seized items were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima.<\/div>\n
On September 16, security forces intercepted a suspected vehicle near Naga Bazaar bye pass road and apprehended four NSCN (K) cadres, PRO said. PRO said that the four persons were identified as finance secy. Bennilo Bukh@ Ato Rengma (37) @ Ato Chakesang son of Rushvuyhu Bukh, Adeo Kiewhuo (29) son of Zakielulie Kiewhuo, Neiktoula Kenguruse (34) son of Pfunguile Kenguruse and Thejavinuo Theja (38) son of Memguzelie Theja. PRO said the arrested persons along with six extortion challans recovered from their possession were handed over to the North Police station for further investigation.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
