Under the initiative of chief medical officer (CMO) Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla, doctors and nurses of Longleng district were training on \u2018palliative care\u2019, the first of its kind in the health sector in Nagaland, on July 16 at CMO office conference hall, Longleng.
In a press release issued by office of the CMO Longleng, it informed that palliative care which was not included in medical studies curriculum previously have started to be included. Therefore, taking into account the gap, CMO Dr. Obangjungla, a pioneer in palliative care initiated and conducted the training in order to equip medical professionals and nurses in palliative care.
Resource persons for the training were Dr. Nepuni Athikho (palliative care) from Eden Medical Centre who imparted on \u201cconcept and continuum of palliative care and pain management and other related managements\u201d and Lalthanzami (palliative nurse) spoke on \u201ccaring of caregivers and nursing issues in palliative care\u201d, while CMO Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla (palliative care) imparted training on \u201ccommunity participation in palliative care\u201d.
