Naga National Council (Parent Body) under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimkhiung and V Nagi has appealed to Nagas in the homeland and around the world to celebrate 75th anniversary of \u201cNaga Independence Day\u201d which, it claimed, was acknowledged by the United Nations.
It said government of India also recognised the historical and political rights of Nagas and reached political agreements with both entities.
In a statement, NNC parent body said Nagas as people and \u201cnation\u201d have been fighting for their political and historical rights and to be recognised by other sovereign nations as free and independent nation to develop itself in this part of the world for peace and development.
Therefore, the group said Naga people as a whole must stand firm in their historical and political rights to be recognised officially and observe the day in a dignified manner.
It directed all regional councils and NNC members of all Nagas in the homeland to observe solemnly and celebrate with dignity and honour as a people and nation.
\u201cThe Naga people as a whole must take it as a bounden duty to celebrate in honour and thanksgiving to our Living God for this significant anniversary\u2026\u201d the statement said.
FGN to celebrate platinum \u2018Naga I-Day\u2019
In view of the previous clarion call \u201cCalling all fellow Nagas\u201d dated June 11, 2022, Naga National Council (NNC) and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) along with the people will be commemorating the platinum jubilee of Naga \u201cnation\u201d on August 14, 11 am, at Chedema village ground.
In an information, \u2018capt. (retd.)\u2019 Yirei Lungleng kilonser of Rali Wali FGN informed that \u2018gen. (retd.)\u2019 Viyalie Metha, Kedahge of FGN will unfurl the \u201cNaga national flag\u201d and address the \u201cNaga nation\u201d in accordance with the provisions of Yehzabo (constitution) of Nagaland.
