{"id":29424,"date":"2017-08-12T00:23:35","date_gmt":"2017-08-12T00:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/08\/12\/wu-nppcl-launches-indefinite-blockade-on-nh-61\/"},"modified":"2017-08-12T00:23:35","modified_gmt":"2017-08-12T00:23:35","slug":"wu-nppcl-launches-indefinite-blockade-on-nh-61","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/08\/12\/wu-nppcl-launches-indefinite-blockade-on-nh-61\/","title":{"rendered":"WU-NPPCL launches indefinite blockade on NH-61"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/TVNUNKAPKQHCDUJZRNVV.jpg><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">To protest against non release of nine months\u2019 salary, the Workers Union Nagaland Pulp &amp; Paper Company Ltd (WU-NPPCL) on Friday began its indefinite blockade on National Highway 61 at Tzudikong, under Tuli sub-division, Mokokchung.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>The decision to impose blockade was taken after the union failed to get response to its appeals made to the higher authorities including the Prime Minister for redressal of its numerous demands. The union said that even after lapse of so many months, its demands fell on deaf ears and no concrete solution from the responsible authorities materialized.<\/div>\n<div>Talking to this correspondent at the protest site, WU-NPPCL officials said they have been facing untold sufferings for the last many months because their salaries have not been paid for the last nine months.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Besides, the union officials said they have been pressurizing the authorities for the restart of rehabilitation works of the Mill as the centre has already sanctioned funds for revival of the mill. They lamented that though rehabilitation works began in December 2014, the works abruptly got suspended in September 2015. For this, they said several letters have been written to the authority but no positive results have yielded so far.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In this regard, WU-NPPCL said it had last submitted a memorandum to the chairman cum managing director Hindustan Paper Corporation on July 26, 2017. The demands put forth by the WU NPPCL include: immediate restart of the rehabilitation works of NPPCL, immediate release of nine months\u2019 salary due to the workers; immediate release of Gratuity &amp; Terminal benefits of death and superannuated employees and immediate implementation of 2007 pay-scale in NPPCL, because the officers who have been deputed in NPPCL from other units of HPC were enjoying 2007 pay-scale.<\/div>\n<div>Meanwhile, with the launch of indefinite blockade, supply of essential commodities to Mokokchung and other districts were likely to be affected as the union has vowed to continue bandh until demands were met.
