Following the assurance given by the State government to address the issue within six months, Nagaland In-service Doctors\u2019 Association (NIDA) called off the ongoing cease-work agitation with immediate effect.
However, the association cautioned that it would not stay idle until the matter was brought to a logical conclusion within the stipulated time, adding that the six-month time would come into effect from November 1.
In a statement, NIDA said its executives and state government officials held series of discussion pertaining to increasing the superannuation age of government doctors. After a thorough discussion on the issues raised by NIDA, it was decided that the committee constituted by the State government on September 13, 2022 would examine these and submit a report to the government within six months, after which the matter would be taken to the cabinet for decision.
The association said that the decision was taken in accordance with a meeting between government officials and NIDA office-bearers held on November 4 and the consensus arrived thereof. Accordingly, the matter was also thoroughly examined at the emergency general body meeting of NIDA on Sunday.
NIDA also regretted the inconveniences caused to the public, particularly patients, as a result of the agitation.
Meanwhile, NIDA expressed gratitude to all civil society organisations (CSOs), NGOs, well-wishers, individuals and groups who had stood by its side during the agitation and also the State government for being accommodative and offering the assurance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
