Reacting to what it termed as \u201cconsistent attempts to create an atmosphere of confusion\u201d among Naga brothers by portraying \u201cbonafide S\u00fcmi village\/villagers of Western S\u00fcmi areas as land grabbers\u201d, Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) said as per its understanding, under the cloak of confusion and misconceptions, an active campaign was being launched at ground zero and in the media, \u201cto justify encroachment activities upon legitimate Western S\u00fcmi village land.\u201d
WSYF reiterated an attempt was being made to nullify the hardships and struggles foregone in history by \u201c the Western S\u00fcmi pioneers\u201d for what they have as Western S\u00fcmi areas.\u201d
On the November 15 statement by Zeliangrong Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) which rejected the claim that S\u00fcmis obtained NoC from Lamhai village by paying 4 Annas to the Zeliangs, WSYF said this was bereft of historical facts since \u201cofficial records\u201d written by then ADC Peren, stated that \u201cmany Zeliang brothers carried out cultivation in Western S\u00fcmi land by paying taxes.\u201d
WSYF also claimed that Western S\u00fcmi areas including present day Kiyevi village has been in continuous occupation by Western S\u00fcmis \u201cever since the British Raj.\u201d In order to put matters \u201cinto perspective of historical facts\u201d, WSYF pointed out that the act of encroachment and setting up of the \u201cso-called Lamhainamdi\u201d within the \u201cwell accepted Western S\u00fcmi village land is preposterous and unacceptable under any pretexts\u201d.
WSYF said that in lieu of \u201cundeniable historical facts\u201d the affected Western S\u00fcmi villages and Western S\u00fcmis in general, exercised utmost restraint in line with facts and circumstances, to maintain peace and removal of \u201cillegal settlements in Western S\u00fcmi village land\u201d when the authorities passed orders for status quo on June 25, 2019 and eviction order on July 8, 2019.
WSYF said it was unfortunate, that \u201cillegal activities\u201d had been perpetrated despite standing government orders and \u201cprovoking hostilities\u201d through \u201cunverifiable and cooked up stories to justify illegal encroachments upon Western S\u00fcmi village lands.\u201d
On the 10-day ultimatum served by the villagers of Lamhainamdi, WSYF said the \u201cmisconceived ultimatums, challenging the government orders\u201d, which were in effect for maintaining peace and order, further threatened the \u201cvery sanctity of the effected Western S\u00fcmi villages\u201d. WSYF said that with much urgency it has called upon all \u201cright thinking citizens to uphold the truth and the concerned authority to evict the illegal settlement from Western S\u00fcmi village as per standing government orders.\u201d
On the statement issued on November 16, 2022 by persons belonging to various tribes of Lamhainamdi, WSYF said individuals taking name of tribes for their own benefit was \u201cprovocative in nature\u201d and that no one should \u201cget involved without knowing the historical fact and tarnish the image of one\u2019s tribe.\u201d
WSYF said that the statement purportedly made by a GB of \u201cso-called Lamhainamdi\u201d who threatened S\u00fcmis involves \u201ccriminal liabilities\u201d on himself and a threat on S\u00fcmi people in general and appealed to all S\u00fcmis to take \u201cextra precautionary steps to face any eventualities.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
