{"id":316009,"date":"2022-12-12T02:22:22","date_gmt":"2022-12-11T20:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=316009"},"modified":"2022-12-12T02:22:25","modified_gmt":"2022-12-11T20:52:25","slug":"nsf-observes-black-day-to-mark-3rd-anniversary-of-caa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2022\/12\/12\/nsf-observes-black-day-to-mark-3rd-anniversary-of-caa\/","title":{"rendered":"NSF observes \u2018Black Day\u2019 to mark 3rd anniversary of CAA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF) observed \u2018Black Day\u2019 against the forceful imposition of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) following the directive of North East Students\u2019 Organisation (NESO).<br>NSF said it held a symbolic protest at Oking by hoisting black flag and also in front of various government offices.<br>NSF pointed out that despite various exemptions made for the North-eastern region in the Act, NESO still felt that the Act was anti-people and that it would strive towards ensuring that it was not implemented.<br>Meanwhile, NESO on Sunday marked the third anniversary of the passage of CAA in Parliament as \u2018black day\u2019 across the region.<br>Black flags and banners were displayed across North Eastern states as per NESO\u2019s call, its advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjya said in a statement here.<br>The All Assam Students\u2019 Union (AASU), Nagaland Students\u2019 Federation, All Arunachal Pradesh Students\u2019 Union, Khasi Students\u2019 Union, Garo Students\u2019 Union, All Manipur Students\u2019 Union, Mizo Zirlai Pawl and Tripura Students\u2019 Federation led the protests in the states, he said.<br>In Assam, which was the epicentre of the anti-CAA protests in 2019, AASU organised memorial meetings at different places, its president in-charge Utpal Sharma said in another statement.<br>He said floral tributes were paid and earthen lamps lit in memory of the five people who were killed during the agitations three years ago.<br>\u201cWe won\u2019t accept the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019, that is for sure. It is against the indigenous people. We will continue our democratic and legal fight,\u201d Sharma said.<br>The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), a political party formed post the 2019 anti-CAA strife and headed by former AASU leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi, also staged a demonstration in Guwahati.<br>The party marked the day as \u2018Pratarana Divas\u2019 (day of betrayal).<br>\u201cWe have to continue resisting the CAA.
