Therie for criticizing the appointment of Khriehu Liezietsu as Advisor to the chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu. NPF dismissed the NPCC attack of “nepotism” over the appointment of the son (Khriehu) as advisor to the father (CM) after the former resigned from the house to pave way for by election of his father.

NPF dismissed the NPCC criticism as “inducing humour” that was as “hilarious as the political party which has become a joke”. NPF made fun of NPCC’s claim that it was Therie who “single handedly revived the dying Cock party and propelled it to power in 2003.” That would be like a trying to believe that “we are blessed with a political Samson in our midst capable of “achieving the impossible” or a Delilah as the party which he (Therie) presently heads” , said NPF.

Slamming NPCC for saying that the tirades against its leader (Therie) was a payback of “ungratefulness”, NPF pointed out that to be “brutally frank”, Therie, “the once blue-eyed boy of Mr Jamir”, after being sacked from the Congress ministry in 2002 was again dropped from DAN-I by “some ungrateful people and power mongers” (as per NPCC) mainly because “this leader” tried to regain power by hook and by crook “with unscrupulous elements” by trying to backstab “his once bosom buddy, who resigned from the Congress ministry in September 22, 2002.”

NPF also claimed that having threatened others of his “popularity, political principles and unwavering commitment, this honourable gentleman” while still in NPF, started hob-nobbing with Congress leaders and exhibited the kind of “political principles and unwavering commitment to the party he belongs to”. NPF said after Therie was forced out of the cabinet, no one missed him till someone pointed out the “absence of a massive ego in the party.”

Over the NPCC attack on NPF defence that Khriehu had made “supreme sacrifice” , NPF said it may be alien to the Congress as NPCC found how hollow it was and nothing more could be said about a political party whose presidential candidates resorted to vandalism, arson and exploding of bombs at Congress bhavan (Kohima).

Further rubbing it in, NPF said there has been no instance of smooth transition of power in NPCC and the most recent being the present incumbent, who, after being made party president, suspended all other senior party leaders from the party.

NPF said vacating one’s seat did not exist in the Congress a party that strictly adheres to the High Command. It pointed out that when Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar visited Congress Bhavan Kohima in early 2000, the then working president got up to offer a seat in deference. Aiyar reportedly admonished the functionary by said that in politics one should never vacate one’s seat for another person.

However, as far as NPF was concerned, in 1990 sitting MLA K.G. Kenye vacated his Chizami seat for Vamuzo . Again taking on NPCC over use of the word “unmandated” NPF pointed out that former prime ministers P.V. Narasimha Rao and Dr. Manmohan Singh were never considered “unmandated” even if they were sworn-in without being members of parliament.

In this regard, NPF said whether Congress functionaries at that time had smeared faces with ash or hung their heads in shame when no elected member was found suitable to become prime minister.

NPF concluded that it was only expected that a party like Congress suffered from selective amnesia because it has been taking people of the country for a ride and believing that people were enjoying the ride.

Press and Media Bureau (P&MB) of NPF Central has reacted to the NPCC counter rejoinder through a vitriolic attack at the Congress and particularly its party chief K.
