{"id":32230,"date":"2017-06-22T01:05:27","date_gmt":"2017-06-22T01:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/06\/22\/controversy-over-firing-incident\/"},"modified":"2017-06-22T01:05:27","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T01:05:27","slug":"controversy-over-firing-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/06\/22\/controversy-over-firing-incident\/","title":{"rendered":"Controversy over firing incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>A gunfight broke between the Indian Army para commandos and militants in Nagaland\u2019s Mon district bordering Myanmar in the early hours of Wednesday, a police official here said.<br \/>\nThe exchange of fire took place in Choknyu village near Tapi bridge, when suspected militants fired at the para commandos.<br \/>\n\u201cThe gunfight lasted for an hour and suspected NSCN-K and ULFA-I militants retreated back to the jungles after intensive firing from the para commandos,\u201d a Nagaland police official told IANS. <br \/>\nIntelligence officials said that the militants had sneaked into Nagaland from Myanmar to create terror.<br \/>\nMon Correspondent adds: There were conflicting reports about the incident. As per Mon police report, the firing incident took place in Choknyu village when one person, identified as Avihoto was on a hunting trip. <br \/>\nPolice said Avihoto, reportedly a worker at the ongoing bridge construction over Tapi River, had crossed over Tapi river towards Choknyu area for hunting with a 12 bore gun. <br \/>\nOn seeing a wild cat, he took his shot at the animal at around 8.30 p.m. However, police said he suddenly heard shots being fired from Choknyu side. He was not aware that the AR patrolling party was in that area, police said. In this regard, the Assam Rifles personnel detained Avihoto for accidental firing on the patrolling party.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Konyak Union has expressed dismay for violation of its resolution.
