KU opined that both Naypyidaw and New Delhi should sincerely understand the cultural, social, political and territorial sentiments and aspiration of the Nagas so as to culminate into a peaceful and early solution.

Further, the union while “firmly upholding” its stance for peaceful and early solution refuted the June 10 press statement of Rijiju wherein he had purportedly stated that “Late Shangnyu Shangwang Khaplang had died at Kachin State (Myanmar)”.

KU said “such unfounded statement” was indeed a “shocker”, saying how could Union MoS for Home and an Arunachali could be “so ignorant about the territorial extension and existence of its immediate neighbour?”

The union clarified that Kachin was a tribe/state that occupied the North-eastern frontier of Myanmar and shared its Western boundaries with the Nagas, who occupied the North-western frontier under the Union of Myanmar.
