{"id":32351,"date":"2017-06-17T00:09:03","date_gmt":"2017-06-17T00:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/06\/17\/bridge-retaining-wall-damaged-at-thanamir\/"},"modified":"2017-06-17T00:09:03","modified_gmt":"2017-06-17T00:09:03","slug":"bridge-retaining-wall-damaged-at-thanamir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/06\/17\/bridge-retaining-wall-damaged-at-thanamir\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridge, retaining wall damaged at Thanamir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/KRIFVRWUEOTROLGVSIAN.jpg><\/p>\n<div>In a delayed report, the week- long incessant pre-monsoon rain reportedly washed away a retaining wall and the ground foundation of Bailey Bridge bypass to Thanamir Village on June 4.<\/div>\n<div>This was informed in a press note by Thanamir Village Students\u2019 Union (TVSU) president, N.Yapmule and general secretary, M.Topanthong.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;According to TVSU, the bridge was constructed a couple of years back; the only bypass to Thanamir village where mostly tourist travelers and visitors come from different places and from within and outside the state of Nagaland.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>TVSU cited unprecedented moisture in the soil and abnormal humidity due to long period of rain as the reason. The ground foundation and retaining wall of the bridge were partially washed away during consequent rainfall, it added.<\/div>\n<div>The union has informed that engineers\/officials of the department have swung into action to tackle and mitigate the problem faced by general public. &nbsp;It therefore appealed the concerned department to look into the matter at the earliest for the convenience of the general public.<\/div>\n<div>It may be mentioned that Thanamir is also known as \u201cApple Village\u201d and one of the major tourist attraction of the state- Mount Saramati, falls under this jurisdiction.
