Citizens of Eastern Nagaland\u2014Mon, Kiphire, Longleng, and Tuensang\u2014 under the banner of Eastern Nagaland Peoples\u2019 Organization (ENPO) and Eastern Nagaland Students\u2019 Federation (ENSF) observed a day of mourning on Tuesday in memory of late SS Khaplang, NSCN (K) chairman.  All private establishments remained shut while private vehicular movements were restricted in most areas.<\/span><\/div>\n
Thousands of people from all walks of life, across four districts, paid rich tributes to the departed leader.<\/div>\n
In Mon, despite inclement weather, hundreds of people from all walks of life gathered at Mon Town Monolith, near DBS junction for a candle light vigil. The program was organised by the apex organisation of Mon district KU, KSU and KNSK. <\/div>\n
Meanwhile, a separate condolence service in honour of late SS Khaplang was held at Shangnyu village of Mon district, the ancestral village of the deceased leader. <\/div>\n
The condolence service was attended by villager of Shangyin, KU, KNSK, KSU, KBBB and other Konyak leaders and elders.<\/div>\n
In Kiphire, the programme was organized by United Sangtam Students\u2019 Conference (USSC), where all private establishments were closed with restriction of private vehicular movement under in its jurisdiction. <\/div>\n
Later, in the evening a candlelight service was held at Deluxe point Kiphire. USSC expressed deep pain and sorrow over the demise of the patriotic leader who had fought for the cause of Nagas till his last breath. USSC prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and solace for the bereaved family.<\/div>\n
In Longleng, a day of mourning was observed followed by condolence service in honour of late SS Khaplang at Local ground Longleng headquarter.<\/div>\n
The event was jointly organized by Phom Peoples\u2019 Council, Phom Students\u2019 Conference, Phomla Hoichem, Phom Baptist Christian Association, Longleng Town Ward Union, Chambers of Commerce & Industries Longleng and Longleng District Drivers\u2019 Union among others.  <\/div>\n
Former minister, Metpong Phom spoke on behalf of the Phom Public. He recalled his meeting with late Khaplang decades ago wherein he said late Khaplang was serious about Naga peace and Sovereignty. He said Khaplang was a patriotic and devoted leader all through his life for the Naga cause without seeking for any luxurious life.  <\/div>\n
A one-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul. <\/div>\n
Earlier, Longleng Town Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Beau phom invoked God\u2019s blessing while president Phom Peoples\u2019 Council, Chingen Phom chaired the programme.<\/div>\n
In Tuensang, citizens from all walks of life also observed the day of mourning and a candle light vigil.<\/div>\n
All private institutions remained shut for the day. Later, Confederation of Chang Students\u2019 Union observed a candle light vigil in the evening.<\/div>\n
