The party assured to provide stable power supply to all districts of Nagaland if they voted to power.<br>Addressing press conference at Congress Bhavan here on Saturday, NPCC secretary and spokesperson Temjenyanger Longkumer claimed that Nagaland has one of the highest power tariffs in the country with rates ranging from Rs.4.5 to Rs.7 per unit across different categories.<br>While the electricity tariff is increasing every year, he said the electricity supply in Nagaland was going from bad to worse.<br>NPCC secretary said that electricity was basic need, but the government was unable to provide even the basic necessity to its people. He said that the \u201chighly erratic power supply\u201d has not on-ly made the lives of the common people miserable, but also affected the profitability and viabil-ity of business and industries.<br>Longkumer said that Dimapur the commercial hub of the state was facing the worst power sup-ply, adding that only the \u201cempowered business establishments\u201d could afford power back-ups. He said that many young Naga entrepreneurs had to shut down their livelihoods since they can-not afford the energy bill.<br>Questioning the state government for not providing sufficient and steady power supply, Longkumer asked \u201cwhy are they unable to set up power plants, thermal power plant, solar pow-er plants and more hydroelectric plants, or why are they unable to increase the capacity of pow-er generation and, why the state government cannot purchase sufficient power from other states.\u201d<br>NPCC communications department chairman, Wezote Kreo, stated that the state can grow when there was less power supply.<br>Stressing on the unemployment problem in Nagaland, he said that the since government cannot accommodate all the educated unemployed in government departments Nagaland needed pri-vate industries, multinational companies and investors.
