As part of the \u201cPoshan Abhiyaan\u201d, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi\u2019s overarching scheme for holistic development, Department of Social Welfare (DoSW) Kohima, Nagaland, office of the state project management unit under Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) government of India, would be celebrating the \u201c5th Poshan Pakhwada\u201d from March 20 to April 3 across the state.
A press release by the DoSW informed that the \u201cPoshan Abhiyaan\u201d endeavours to improve outcomes in pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls and children under the age of six years, in a holistic manner.
In pursuance of this objective, the department said \u201cPoshan Pakhwada\u201d would be celebrated in convergence with all stakeholders for which the department has prepared an action plan.
During the celebration, the department would be organising key activities under various themes; communities would be sensitized on the nutritional benefits of millets, in line with the United Nations General Assembly resolution declaring 2023 as the \u201cInternational Year of Millets\u201d, as proposed by India to the Food and Agriculture Organisation.
DoSW also informed that during the celebration, focus would also be on the growth monitoring through \u201cSwasth Balak Spardha\u201d that emphasises upon measuring height and weight of all the children in target age group and \u201cSaksham Anganwadis\u201d.
