{"id":34990,"date":"2017-05-07T23:28:27","date_gmt":"2017-05-07T23:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/05\/07\/langzanger-village-resolves-to-conduct-clean-election\/"},"modified":"2017-05-07T23:28:27","modified_gmt":"2017-05-07T23:28:27","slug":"langzanger-village-resolves-to-conduct-clean-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/05\/07\/langzanger-village-resolves-to-conduct-clean-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Langzanger village resolves to conduct \u2018clean election\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Langzanger Village under 59 Assembly Constituency (AC) Kiphire became the first village in Kiphire district to resolve to conduct \u201cclean election\u201d during a two-day citizen meeting held from May 5-6 at the village under &nbsp;the theme \u201cbuilding a sustainable future; a shared responsibility\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>During the meeting, Langzanger Village adopted 12-point resolutions, the most pertinent being to conduct clean election. The meeting resolved that \u201cany citizen(s) of Langzanger who sell\/use money during election, he\/she shall be prohibited to cast his\/her vote in the election\u201d. The inhabitants of the village appended their signature for the same.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;The resolution was adopted in line with Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) call for \u201cclean election\u201d and also to encourage the inhabitants of the village to practice \u201creal democracy\u201d by exercising ones franchise during election in choosing the right leader for progress and development. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Resource persons for the meeting were superintendent of Police Kiphire, Ben Longkumer and medical officer (MO) District Hospital Kiphire, Dr. Tsipongchem.<\/div>\n<div>Speaking on the theme, Ben Longkumer appealed the citizens to lead an exemplary life and encouraged each one of them to play a constructive role in building a sustainable future.<\/div>\n<div>On poor development of the area, Longkumer said the people should not blame the leaders as most of the public sell their votes during elections.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He also encouraged the gathering to create awareness on acquiring education saying it was the responsibility of each citizen that the village produce more educated persons. SP Kiphire also asked the people to do away with \u201cism\u201d and maintain cordial relationship with neighbours and other community.<\/div>\n<div>Dr Tsipongchem enlightened the gathering on health issues and stressed on cleanliness. He asked the citizens to give importance on their health saying keeping oneself healthy was the best gift to God. He also medical check-up and provided medicines to patients.<\/div>\n<div>Speaking on \u201cwomen empowerment\u201d, Sub-Editor of The Indian Express, Ashmin Gaur, said that men and women are equal in the eye of god and so women should be treated equally in the society.
