Naga People\u2019s Front (NPF), NSCN (I-M), Government colleges student bodies and Global Naga Forum (GNF) have condemned the act of vandalism of Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF) office on May 27 by unknown miscreants.
In a press note, NPF press bureau said it strongly condemned such act of uncivilized and alien culture practised by the Naga society.
\u201cWhoever, the culprits maybe, but destroying one of our most preserved heritage building is nothing but purely a barbaric plan,\u201d NPF stated.
NPF therefore, urged upon the law enforcing agency to come into conclusion immediately by booking the culprits as per the law of the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSCN (I-M): <\/strong>NSCN (I-M) said that such act of insanity of vandalizing the Naga Club heritage building that house the NSF office was beyond comprehension and has shaken the consciousness of all right thinking Nagas.
NSCN (I-M) said that it was an insult of the highest degree not only to NSF, the apex body of Naga students units spread across Nagalim but also to the identity of Naga freedom movement.
\u201cNaga Club building has been standing as a \u2018historical memory\u2019 to reminds us of our national identity when the Naga political movement for freedom started,\u201d it stated.
NSCN appealed to the law enforcing agency to act with all seriousness to identify the culprits.
Govt colleges student unions: Government colleges student bodies of Nagaland have expressed shocked and condemned the vandalism of the offices of the apex student bodies– All Nagaland College Students\u2019 Union (ANCSU) & Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF).
In a joint statement, general secretaries of FACSU Mokokchung Tushikaba, KSCSU-Kohima Dilong L Sangtam, YCSU-Longleng Baulang N Angh, DGCSC-Dimapur Rendemo C. Tsanglao, KCSC-Kohima Hyulo Tsela, ZGCSU-Zunheboto Akhevi K Awomi, PGCSU-Phek Ranjan Sha, PGCSU-Pfutsero Lhiwe Sekhamo, WGCSU-Mon P Shashei, MTCSU-Wokha Avung T Tsopoe and PGCSU-Peren Isaplungle. The unions said that such cowardly act of antisocial elements, carried out by some few vested individual(s), was a direct threat to the students community. The unions demanded that the culprits be booked at the earliest and award stringent and befitting punishment.
The unions also appealed to all the right thinking intellectuals to condemn such cowardly act, which in itself was a threat not only to the students community but to the society as well.
Such antisocial activities causing irreparable damage to the properties of the apex student bodies was totally unacceptable, it said.
Further, the unions extend their solidarity and fullest support to the ANCSU and NSF and hoped that the law enforcing agencies would take up the matter with outmost priority and concern and render justice to ANCSU, NSF and the entire students community at the earliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
GNF said that the miscreants, driven by despicable motives, razed the historic office building housing the NSF since 1983, defiling not only a symbol of the Naga struggle for self-determination but also targeting the welfare of Naga students.
The forum said it was deeply disheartening to witness the insidious and systematic attempts to dismantle Naga civil society organizations. \u201cBeginning with the fragmentation and delegitimization of the apex Naga civil society\u2019s organizations, it is evident that vested interests with hideous minds are seeking to destroy the fragile fabric of pan-Naga unity that remains,\u201d it said.
The forum said that destruction of NSF office, an institution representing Naga students across tribal boundaries, was a criminal attack on the very essence of Naga identity and aspirations.
It said that such act, transpired with such precision in the heart of our capital city, raised suspicions that the miscreants acted with tacit support from powerful entities orchestrating this malicious act.
Attempts to intimidate and silence the unity and voice of the Naga nation will not succeed, it added.
The forum said that no human being or entity, no matter how powerful, can destroy the heart and soul of what it means to be Naga.
GNF firmly declared that this shameful act must be addressed forthrightly, condemned by all, and the persons or group involved should be arrested without delay.
Rather than resorting to such destructive and criminal measures, the forum urged the Naga elders responsible for this act to hang their heads in shame and engage in dialogue to resolve any conflicts of interest.
Furthermore, GNF said it condemned \u201cthe cynical motive of resource politics, disguised as claims of original land ownership by the Naga Club, as a pretext for grabbing prime land in the heart of Kohima.\u201d
It said that such claims do not withstand scrutiny of modern law or customary Naga practices. The building and land in question do not possess hereditary ownership, rendering customary law inapplicable, GNF stated.
The forum urged upon the authorities to act swiftly, restore justice, and ensure the perpetrators of this shameful and criminal act face the full force of the law.
It is of paramount importance that the state takes prompt action to prevent the situation from spiralling out of control, the forum said and conveyed that it stands united with the NSF and the entire Naga community, resolute in the pursuit of justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
