{"id":353623,"date":"2023-06-08T03:26:21","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T21:56:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=353623"},"modified":"2023-06-08T03:26:23","modified_gmt":"2023-06-07T21:56:23","slug":"western-sumi-totimi-hoho-celebrates-silver-jubilee-with-traditional-fervour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2023\/06\/08\/western-sumi-totimi-hoho-celebrates-silver-jubilee-with-traditional-fervour\/","title":{"rendered":"Western S\u00fcmi Totimi Hoho celebrates silver jubilee with traditional fervour"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Spectacular performance of \u201cThishole\u201d, a S\u00fcmi folksong, by 1400 \u201cS\u00fclimis\u201d (S\u00fcmi women) in traditional attire, and a heartwarming rendition of S\u00fcmi poem, \u201cKulolau S\u00fclimi Shekiqhe Leshe\u201d, marked the silver jubilee celebration of Western S\u00fcmi Totimi Hoho (WSTH) at Thilix\u00fc Village Local Ground, Ch\u00fcmoukedima on Wednesday.<br>\u201cThishole\u201d, sung by womenfolk while pounding rice in preparation of community feast or pre and post-harvest festivals, was performed by \u201cS\u00fclimis\u201d from different units and villages under WSTH at the \u201cMega Cultural Event\u201d. The \u201cS\u00fcmi Leshe\u201d was recited by womenfolk from S\u00fcmi Totimi Loka (STL) of Chekiye, Kiyeto and Thahekhu villages.<br>Addressing the \u201cMega Cultural Event\u201d as special guest, advisor industries and commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, congratulated WSTH on attaining 25 years. She lauded the \u201cvisionary\u201d Western S\u00fcmi founders\/pioneers for their foresight and appreciated their invaluable contributions for the S\u00fcmi community to progress.<br>While appreciating the indispensable involvement of S\u00fcmi women in building the Western S\u00fcmi community, Hekani said their crucial role was evident in the way S\u00fcmis have progressed and prospered in this part of the state.<br>Hekani said she becoming an MLA was also an answered prayer of the S\u00fcmi women in particular and Naga women in general for women representatives in the State Assembly (NLA).<br>Underscoring the importance of representation, Hekani said that more Naga women needed to come out and lead from the forefront.<br>Speaking on the importance of unity and oneness among the Nagas, Hekani lamented the disunity among the Nagas and called for harbouring the \u201cspirit of brotherhood\u201d for the Naga society to progress. \u201cIf we do not change our mindset and unify, then the younger Naga generation will not progress and prosper,\u201d she said.<br>Stating that women could play a vital role in unifying the Nagas, the advisor asked them to exhibit patience, which according to her was God\u2019s \u201cspecial power\u201d to women, and continue their endeavour to maintain peace and harmony among the Nagas. The special guest also announced \u201cWSTH Silver Jubilee Scholarship\u201d for Western S\u00fcmi women, and informed that the details would be worked out with WSTH.<br>The \u201cMega Cultural Event\u201d was followed by \u201cSilver Jubilee Service\u201d on the theme, \u201cKuqhakulu Chikamujo Ani\u201d (Nurturing Unity) with retired director of higher education, Kuholi Chishi as the theme speaker.<br>In her message, Chishi said that unity exists in the S\u00fcmi community, but they did not nurture the spirit of unity. She said unity could be nurtured by inculcating the following- \u201cembrace diversity\u201d, \u201cembrace the gift of bonding\u201d, \u201cembrace our values\u201d, and \u201cembrace God\u201d.<br>Deliberating on diversity, she called upon the S\u00fcmis to embrace, appreciate, and respect diversity among individuals, within families and the society at large.<br>On the \u201cgift of bonding\u201d, she said God\u2019s gift to women was patience, humility, and compassion, and called upon the S\u00fcmi women to utilize the values to bring the people together.<br>Stressing on the need to \u201cembrace our values\u201d, the speaker stressed the need for S\u00fcmis to preserve and promote their rich culture and traditions, putting emphasis on language, traditional attires, cuisine, arts and crafts. \u201cWe must preserve these age-old culture and practices to protect and preserve our S\u00fcmi identity for generations to come,\u201d said Chishi.<br>During the \u201cSilver Jubilee Service\u201d, the invocation was offered by Thilix\u00fc Village Baptist Church Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi; welcome address was delivered by WSTH president, Visheli S Yeptho; Jubilee greetings were delivered by S\u00fcmi Totimi Hoho (STH) president, Kheholi Assumi, Western S\u00fcmi Hoho (WSH) president, Shikaho Zhimomi, and former president of WSTH, G Jolly Zhimomi.<br>The \u201cWSTH Jubilee Souvenir\u201d was dedicated and released by Western Baptist Akukuhou K\u00fcqhakulu (WSBAK) executive secretary, Rev Dr Phughoto Sema, and former president of WSTH, Ahimsa Zhimo respectively. Special song was presented by Jubilee Choir, S\u00fcmi Baptist Akukuhou Purana Bazaar; a special prayer for \u201cJubilee blessings\u201d was invoked by ssecretary, Department of Women Ministry (DoWM), WSBAK, Kakheli Inato Jimomi; vote of thanks by convenor, WSTH Jubilee Organising Committee, Kakheli Vikheshe; and benediction by former vice president of WSTH, Hotoli Chophy, The chairpersons of the service were Women Pastor KTBC, Khevili Aye and Music Director NCRC S\u00fcmi Doyapur Road, Atoli Achumi, while recorder of the service was general secretary of Aghunaqa Area STL, Vilika Yepthomi.<br>Earlier at Eralibill Village, the Jubilee Plague and WSTH building inauguration programme was chaired by WSTH vice president,Ghokheli Achumi; the jubilee plaque and WSTH building was inaugurated by Hukheli T Wotsa, the first WSTH president, and dedicated by women pastor of Ikishe Village Baptist Church and former ssecretary, DoWM, WSBAK, Dr Hotoli Sema. To mark the occasion, 25 \u201cJubilee balloons\u201d were released by presidents of WSTH and STL. The programme ended with benediction by former vice president of WSTH, Shikhuli Zhimomi.
