The \u201cMobius Young Climate Leaders for Himalayan Development\u201d project in Nagaland was launched by Advisor, Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu on June 12 at Lampstand School, Toluvi, Dimapur.
A press release by Director, Climate Studies and Knowledge Solutions Centre (CS&KSC), Department of Science & Technology (DoS&T), Dr. Atoho Jakhalu informed that the project is a joint collaboration of CS&KSC, DoS&T and the Department of Environment Forests and Climate Change (DoEF&CC) with support from Nagaland Board of Secondary Education (NBSE) and implemented by YouthNet.
The department informed that the project will impart the \u201cpani-pahar\u201d curriculum developed by Hearth Advisors and Cambridge University, in 15 selected schools to raise awareness amongst school children and help them understand the significance of their individual and collective climate action.
Under the \u201cMobius Young Professional Program\u201d, the department said selected 15 young forestry graduates would implement the curriculum and facilitate tree plantation, waste management and recycling jointly with schools, communities, and village councils supported by the government administration, forest department and municipals.
The students would also contribute towards Nagaland government\u2019s international research initiative launched at the COP 27 Climate conference in Egypt in the year 2022.
At the launching programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe assured the administration\u2019s support to the schools, communities and all village council chairmen present.
Dr Atoho Jakhalu thanked the Mobius Foundation for funding the project and particularly the chairman, Pradip Burman for his visionary leadership and commitment to environmental sustainability.
