{"id":358133,"date":"2023-06-26T02:20:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-25T20:50:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=358133"},"modified":"2023-06-26T02:20:30","modified_gmt":"2023-06-25T20:50:30","slug":"pherima-and-piphema-boundary-dispute-resolved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2023\/06\/26\/pherima-and-piphema-boundary-dispute-resolved\/","title":{"rendered":"Pherima and Piphema boundary dispute resolved"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The over-eight decades-old land\/boundary dispute between Pherima and Piphema villages had been finally resolved with the signing of an agreement by the two sides on June 24.<br>Informing this in a press note, WSH media cell said that office-bearers from Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and Chakroma Public Organisation (CPO), leaders from other organisations, GBs and council members from both the villages attended the event held at Mid-Way Resort, Tseipama village. Piphema \u2018A\u2019 Baptist Church pastor Pezangulie Keyho had earlier recommended laying of a border pillar and a prayer.<br>CPO president Zhato Kimho, Pherima village head GB Vikato Ayemi, WSH president Shikaho Zhimomi and Piphema Khenu Krotho president Pelezetuo Kuotsu spoke on the occasion. Later, thanksgiving and blessing was pronounced by Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhkulu (WSBAK) executive secretary Rev Dr Phughoto Sema.<br>Senior advocate and mediator for Pherima village Taka Masa gave a brief background of the case. He expressed happiness that after 85 years, finally with God\u2019s wisdom upon the leaders of both villages, the issue \u2013 which had been pending since the British rule and the case was still pending at Gauhati High Court \u2013 could be resolved amicably.<br>He said the two villages had decided to withdraw the case from the high court on December 21, 2021 and use mediation to resolve the issue. On March 17, 2021, the court granted the mediators 60 days to complete their work.<br>Thereafter, the two mediators representing the two villages \u2013 Taka Masa for Pherima village and CT Jamir for Piphema village \u2013 met leaders of both the villages on April 3, 2021 and conducted inquiries and investigations.<br>During the process, they also sought extensions from the high court nine times and it ultimately took more than two years to resolve the conflict. The final spot verification was completed on May 31, 2023 and both sides accepted the specified demarcation. On June 7, 2023, seven border stones\/pillars were constructed.
