{"id":36082,"date":"2017-03-18T00:30:11","date_gmt":"2017-03-18T00:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/03\/18\/health-mela-at-new-tesen-longjang-phc\/"},"modified":"2017-03-18T00:30:11","modified_gmt":"2017-03-18T00:30:11","slug":"health-mela-at-new-tesen-longjang-phc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/03\/18\/health-mela-at-new-tesen-longjang-phc\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Health mela\u2019 at New Tesen, Longjang PHC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>One day \u201chealth mela\u201d was organised by Chief medical officer (CMO) Peren and District Health Society Mokokchung at Council Hall New Tesen Village, Tening Block and Longjang Primary Health Centre (PHC) respectively.<\/div>\n<div>On March 16, a medical team headed by CMO Peren Dr. Ngangshimeren, including deputy CMO Dr. Tiala took part in the mela.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In a short programme during the mela, Dr. Tiala appreciated the medical staff for their support and cooperation in conducting the camp. She called upon the parents to come forward to immunize their children and requested all the pregnant women to go for check up at least thrice. Dr. Tiala also highlighted the safe and temporary methods of Family Planning.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Dr. Ngangshimeren in his address appealed the public and the council for support and cooperation towards the medical department. &nbsp;Altogether, 487 patients availed free medical services and free medicines at the Health Mela. IEC materials- leaflets in local dialect, posters and booklets were distributed and IPC session and counseling was conducted regarding health talks on Family planning and adolescents\u2019 health care, Child Health Immunization, Maternal Health and HIV &amp; AIDS. &nbsp;Nutritional package was also given to all the pregnant women and lactating mothers. &nbsp;Eye Specialist Dr. Hedungkiebe, also spoke on observance on World Glaucoma Week wherein he said Glaucoma was referred to as \u201cSilent thief of sight\u201d because the loss of vision often occurs gradually over a long period of time, and symptoms only occur when the disease is advanced. &nbsp;Altogether 118 patients were screened for vision tests out of which 21 were school children, 4 were diagnosed with cataract, 2 glaucoma cases, 12 conjunctivitis and the rest 100 were refractive errors. Free spectacles were provided to all the refractive errors patients. &nbsp;Invocation was said by deacon of New Tesen village .<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;LONGJANG: District Health Society Mokokchung organized \u201chealth mela\u201d on March 15 Longjang Primary Health Centre (PHC) Mkokchung &nbsp;The medical team was led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung, Dr. S. S. Akaba Longchar and accompanied by deputy CMO, Dr. Kibangkumba, programme officers, medical officers, staff of different programmes, ICTC and NHM staffs. During the mela a total number of 269 patients availed free medical services. Mobile ICTC team from Mokokchung conducted testing for HIV after proper counseling. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In the mela, IEC &amp; NLEP staffs gave health talks on different topics and also distributed leaflets and consultant NVBDCP conducted LQAS. &nbsp;CMO Mokokchung, Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar also visited few houses to check whether the public were using the LLIN mosquito nets and records were also checked at the PHC.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;Earlier, the camp started after an inaugural prayer by associate pastor, youth ministry Longjang compound, Limawati.
