The CLP leader, who had earlier alleged the involvement of the chief minister\u2019s son in the scam, in a press statement said the chief minister should own moral responsibility for the scam and resign from chief ministership since it was Rio who as Finance minister had released the \u201cFraud Money.\u201d
Chingwang also questioned that if at all the chief minister was \u201cclean as claimed\u201d, than why he had not handed over the enquiry of the scam to the CBI, as recommended by the Executive Council during President\u2019s Rule.
\u201cPerhaps due to his vulnerability to the outcome of the enquiry if carried out impartially,\u201d he said.
On the counter-allegation of the Chief Minister\u2019s Office (CMO) that the Congress was the \u2018initiator\u2019 of the Nagaland Road Development Project scam and had manipulated the project, Chingwang said the allegation was \u201ctotally meaningless.\u201d
\u201cInfact it was the Executive Engineer of that time (2006-07) who had manipulated and embezzled the project fund without implementing the work,\u201d he claimed.
Chingwang also said the statement of CMO terming the \u201cjust request\u201d of the
Leader of the Opposition as jealous, envious and immature was \u201cjust madness.\u201d
He said the chief minister being the head of the executive, should have full knowledge of the happenings in the scam project.
The CLP leader also affirmed that the Congress Party was totally committed to all round development and welfare of its citizens, irrespective of tribe, socio-economic status, religious denominations and political affiliations.
He further assured that the CLP would play a positive, responsible and constructive role to the government of the day, so that the \u201cbenefits of development do not conceal itself in few pockets without actually executing them.\u201d<\/p>\n
