{"id":377039,"date":"2023-09-16T02:41:29","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T21:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=377039"},"modified":"2023-09-16T02:41:31","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T21:11:31","slug":"jawan-beats-gadar-2-earnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2023\/09\/16\/jawan-beats-gadar-2-earnings\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Jawan\u2019 beats \u2018Gadar 2\u2019 earnings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2023 is without doubt the Year of Shah Rukh Khan, and the imponderable left today is whether Rajkumar Hirani\u2019s immigration saga \u2018Dunki\u2019 will help Bollywood\u2019s King score a hat-trick, ending his four-year hiatus from the silver screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>With Tamil director Atlee\u2019s vigilante actioner \u2018Jawan\u2019, starring SRK, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupati, crossing the box office collections of the year\u2019s other big hit, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel\u2019s \u2018Gadar 2\u2019, in just nine days, SRK now carries the distinction of leading this year\u2019s two certified blockbusters &#8212; \u2018Pathaan\u2019 and \u2018Jawan\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Having made a gross collection (including the 18 per cent GST) of Rs 21.90 crore and Rs 20.20 crore respectively on the eighth and ninth days, \u2018Jawan\u2019 has raked in Rs 696 crore worldwide, compared with the \u2018Gadar 2\u2019 worldwide collection of Rs 679.69 crore (including domestic gross receipts adding up to 615.81 crore) on the film\u2019s 35th day, according to the trade website, Bollywood Hugama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trade analyst Ramesh Bala said that if \u2018Jawan\u2019, like \u2018Pathaan\u2019, makes it to the Rs 1,000 crore club, which is highly likely, it will definitely be a \u201crare occurrence\u201d for Hindi cinema.<br>He also pointed out that the worldwide earnings of \u2018Jawan\u2019 gave it the lift to surpass \u2018Gadar 2\u2019, which has been a domestic-market phenomenon with its shrill anti-Pakistan narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>And, as Karan Taurani of Elara Capital points out, \u2018Jawan\u2019 has no real competition in the near future, for the next Hindi releases (scheduled for September 28) are \u2018Fukrey 3\u2019, which has a niche audience, and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri\u2019s \u2018The Vaccine War\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\u201cMaybe the hype for \u2018Jawan\u2019 will slightly simmer down by September 28, but the new release won\u2019t have much of an impact,\u201d Taurani noted. He added, though, that Agnihotri\u2019s popularity after \u2018The Kashmir Files\u2019 is likely to make \u2018The Vaccine War\u2019 a stronger contender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>A close watcher of the southern market, Bala says the weekend ahead will see the worldwide gross receipts of \u2018Jawan\u2019 cross Rs 750 crore, and the net collections (minus GST) in the South touch Rs 400 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>By its third weekend, the film\u2019s worldwide collection, Bala predicts, will go somewhere over Rs 900-1,000 crore, especially because occupancies in cinemas have returned to pre-Covid levels.<br>And if the movie ends up getting picked up by theatres in Japan, China and Russia, then the total gross collection will go up even further. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2023 is without doubt the Year of Shah Rukh Khan, and the imponderable left today is whether Rajkumar Hirani\u2019s immigration saga \u2018Dunki\u2019 will help Bollywood\u2019s King score a hat-trick, ending his four-year hiatus from the silver screen.
