Parliamentary secretary of Irrigation & Flood Control, N. Jacob Zhimomi on Tuesday while terming education as the key to integral progress said that it is a joint venture and that parents should not shrink their responsibility.\nInaugurating St. Joseph\u2019s School and St. Ann\u2019s Convent, Niuland, Jacob encouraged parents to support schools in their respective localities by enrolling their children instead of sending their children to far off places.
\nRecalling his own personal experiences in the Catholic school, and being proud of the fact that he was a product of Catholic education, Jacob thanked the Catholic Church in Nagaland for doing a yeomen service in the education of the youth.
\nJacob said he admired the Church\u2019s commitment and service with a human touch and also thanked the Church for the huge investment made in the campus
\nThe parliamentary secretary also informed the public that he had assigned Niuland as a special development zone and expected faster and better road connectivity to the place.
\nBishop of Kohima, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil blessed the buildings said that he had a nostalgic feeling because of his close association with the place and the chief guest while being the principal at Holy Cross School in the early nineties.
\nWhile thanking all present, he said that over 1.61 crore had been spend for the various developmental work in the campus during the last two and a half years. He said education must make people to stand for moral uprightness and moral values taught by Jesus.
\nHead GB of Viyito village, Vikiye also spoke on the occasion and requested the general public to give their maximum cooperation for the growth and development of the school.
\n In the programme, St. Joseph\u2019s School, Nuiland principal, Rev. Fr. Devaraj accorded words of welcome while Daniel anchored the programme. Children of the school presented action song, traditional show and choreography and Rev. Sr. Jeena, St. Ann\u2019s Convent, Viyito, Niuland proposed the vote of thanks.
